Next CC meeting Thursday, June 14.
Agenda: Discuss plans for July 1 long weekend. Tentative plans were suggested to Mud Lakes area a few months ago. Its too early in the season to go to Whipsaw.
Also, we need more Cruiser Days posters to be put up at automotive areas around the province. Pick your posters up at the meeting.
Some great raffle prizes coming up this meeting.
Cruiser_guy, recovering from hip surgery, needs a ride to the meeting from east Abbotsford. Can anybody offer him a ride in for the meeting? Greg? Petra?
Finally, to stimulate attendance, we have arranged No.5 Orange to send over two peelers to demonstrate Ska reggae dancing with El Presidente and Mat.

I can give him a ride, as I am in East Abby. I met Cruiser_guy and his wife before he went down to Guatemala. Sorry to hear he had to come back for surgery. I'll PM him now.

Ahh, crap, figures, there will finally be dancers and I'm stuck working in Ded Reer. I'll be doing nights and not be back until late on Friday. I also think I'm coming up on having to pay my dues. Why is it too early for Whipsaw? we went further North on the last long weekend and the elevations were higher in some spots, we did find some snow but just enough to make it fun. With the higher areas melting at a rapid pace it should make the trip even more interesting. If we decided to go, this time I will go in the long way (and not listen to other's directions).

After last years Whipsaw I thought it might be nice to go earlier in the year as well. More wet = less dust. My truck doesn't have AC and it was way too hot to keep the windows up. There's still lots of dust from the trip in the wagon.

too early and the Whipsaw can be a bad place
snow has stopped people in June
Mud has stopped people in May

many years ago, the same time Mt St. Helens erupted
A large group of hardcore wheelers with winches (ya, probably 33" tires though) entered the Whipsaw
only a couple made it out, only one winch was still working and it was built from the other winches that died
Trucks sunk up to door handles, everyone was soaked and muddy
not a good weekend for any
too much mud and too much water (sometimes)

Sounds like fun!

John, if you are going can you get a few (like 5) posters for me. I will make some rounds out here and get them up.

Thanks

No problem Greg - as long as I remember. I actually thought the meeting was tonight until Charles corrected me yesterday. Too much going on and havin a hard time keeping track of what's on what day. I will trust Charles to remind me to bring back the posters - you are talking about the Cruiser Days posters right?
John

Jeff, you coming to the meeting? If so,you going to bring copies of that sponser letter?

Any new Coastal Cruiser members signing up at the meeting Thursday will receive the latest Toyota Trails magazine.
Any current paid-up members can get the latest up-to-date club membership list on line with Microsoft Excel by asking Bill W. See you there, and we'll need a head count for the July 1 weekend.
~Bill
p.s. Enigma, where do you tie the little bell on??

getting our s*** together

This is a post I came across that was linked back to bc4x4 and some questions that were on there about Cruiser Daze:

http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/foru...eater-vancouver-area-cruiser-days-2007-a.html

I'm not sure what the poster meant about small flier (the cards perhaps?), the 8 1/2 x 11 posters contain all the information I think is required, and except for the website being a little behind the times, I'm not sure what the confusion is about.

Drew, do you frequent that board at all? Perhaps you could post up and clarify things?

I signed up and posted a response.

COASTAL CRUISER MEETING JUNE 14, 07

A quiet supper at the Spike and on to the meeting by 7:50 pm.

CC members present: Steve T, Gary T, Mike McT, Dan M, Barry P,
Chris H, Greg VanT, Jeff S, Phil S, Brad R, Steve P, Mike N, Sopel,
Rob M, Rod McD, Drew E, Rob C, and Bill W.

Guests: Steve Dillen from 4X4ABC, John with his Nissan Patrol and speaking for the
JDM Import Owners Association, Charles W from Guatemala , and Nico recently from South Africa.

First Item was the Cruiser Days update. Rob has managed to arrange the
food services and they will serve hot dogs, hamburgers, pop, coffee, candy,
and other goodies at a reasonable price. Steve T will get on the Dash Plaques thing right away. Dan M will organize the Chehalis L. wheeling run, possibly leaving right after the Cruiser Days event. To get as much community exposure as possible, it is important that you get your poster put in the right businesses, and that you ask for their sponsorship prizes for the show.

Second Item was a talk from Steve Dillen re our 4X4ABC affiliation.
The club treasury will pay about $100. for CC to join as a chapter.
Each of us, hopefully, will join them at a cost of $20. each. Their bylaws
Have to be amended in March, so this process will take a while. A few
CC members have already joined 4X4ABC already. Jeff S will be our
club rep.

John, from the JDM Import Owners assoc, spoke about the B.C. Government’s moves re JDM inspections. Apparently the B.C. government has come down hard on the inspection facilities and they have to be run by the book now. Also, there is a new shop inspection manual for inspectors to closely follow. On a more positive turn, the government has agreed to discuss JDM issues with the public.

Next was the July 1 long weekend plans. We decided NOT to go to Mud Lakes, and now are planning to go to sites around Nicola Lake, north of Merritt. Sopel is going up next week to check it out and then we will have firmer plans. Our tentative plan is to go to Bob Lake for the Friday campsite on June 29, if if there is room for all of us. Other possibilities are Sussex L, Frogmoore L, Sheep L, Nicola L, Peter Hope L, Plateau L, and Glimpse L. We will update the IH8mud site with a map and rendezvous point. So far, those indicating they want to go are Gary T, Greg B, Drew E, Rob M, Steve T, Sopel, Nico, Phil S, Aaron K, and Bill W, plus a “maybe” from Barry P and Chris H.

The August Long Weekend, August 4-6, run will be to Whipsaw. About
10 people indicated that they are going. Somebody asked that we invite
the Calgary group to join us there.

New Member Ryan Stewart, of Vancouver, joined and drives a FJCruiser.
Also, from S. Africa, Nico & Julie Dreyer, are interested in joining CC., and
also drive a FJ Cruiser.

Finally, the raffle first prize went to Steve P who walked with the folding
camp table. John took the ratcheting wrenches, Mike McT the socket set,
Rob C the multi-driver, and Nico the stripping pliers.

The meeting broke up about 10:00 with the smell of diesel in the air,
the slicks of axle oil on the street, and the sound of 20 rattling
crankshafts drifting through the streets of historic old Port Moody.
