so i plan on buying an 80 4wd pick up this week and i have a few question. i did a compression check and the #2 cyclender has 30 psi so and the rest of them where about 115psi. i was thinking about just pulling the head and oil pan and putting in new pistons and rings and connecting rod bearings and rebuild the head, timeing chain and just leave the main bearings cause i don't feel like pulling the motor out. bad idea? i was just going to do this to get through the winter. there is oil/grease comeing out of the front hubs, not sure if its gear oil or what. i had my bro take a look at the truck with me but every time we look at it its dark out side, he is a member here with his 71fj 40 on 2000 tacoma. the PO put in a 5spd turbo tranny, whats the differnce from a normal 5spd and the turbo tranny? the truck does have a weber and headman header that likes like crazy, i could tell exacyl where the leak. any help would be great!!! where can i find a decent priced rebuilt kit? i was thinking of getting one for a 22r and selling the pistons and rings, or are the con rod bearings going to be incorret size? i will do more searching and research.
