Hi all
I have a 88 bj74 landcruiser
I have just installed a new turbo from mamba TD05H-18G-7cm
Suppose to give me 20 plus boost all day long

Problem is i cant get more than 8 psi boost
Adjusted pump and have lots of fuel...black smoke
Have checked intake and exaust and all is good. Did a compression test and 426 psi on all cylinders. Had injectors tested and all is good. Removed intake to inspect turbo inlet. No rubbing of turbine or excessive shaft play. Plugged outlet on turbo to illiminate intake leaks and still only 8 psi with different gauge.
Running out of ideas short of removing turbo and taking apart
Maybe missing something ?
Thanks for any help
Marco

Done all that.
I agree with you on the turbo. I think they shipped the wrong one.
Thanks

Yeah, I would say that is too much turbo for a 13B-T, and, having looked at some of the AFRs the TD42 types run to spool the turbo deicently, too much turbo for a TD42 as well...

I have to agree...now to see if I can reach Mamba for tech support

Ok. Question for the experts
This is a pic of ct26 turbo (left) and mamba turbo (right)
Can someone explain to me how a smaller exaust turbine and larger air turbine gives you less lag and more boost?

@gerg is another guy you should talk with. He is very familiar with B engines and the Mitsubishi based turbo line up. But yeah, I'd say that turbo is definitely too big. I think TD04's are more the right size for a 3.4litre B engine.
