i would probably get them from ruff stuff...
or go local with karnage fab

Who cares about the hijack.

By the way, these TR beadlocks are wasted on me, i'd be happy with black steelies. I'm too fed up with trying to sell stuff via craigslist to list them right now, but if anyone is interested in the rims or even rims and tires, let me know. I'd need enough $ to put new stuff on though.

The truck finally passed safety Friday. Many thanks to those of you who gave advice, dropped by to bend wrenches, and lent me stuff. It seems very good with the 35s and 4.56 in the rear.

It now has rebuilt 60 calipers on the rear rotors, 4 runner calipers up front, but I think all four rotors are from a 60. Both rear hubs got repacked and resealed. Didn't have time to pull a leaf so it is still stiff and high. I think its future will include lowering a tad and riding on 35s.

I took my girls for a ride today. Janna has to use a milk crate to get up into it, and thinks the whole thing is hilarious.

I'm away for two weeks but will endeavour to sort gears for the front on return and have a functioning four wheel drive!

Maybe I'll actually get voted in to the club too!

congrats man!

...and then it didn't run.

driving over to UVIC on Sunday AM, the engine started to lug, like it wasn't getting enough fuel. I stopped a couple minutes later at our destination. when I got out a tire was leaking air. so i dropped Janna and Caitlyn off at the kindergym, promised to come get them in a healthier vehicle, and headed home.

two minutes later the engine died. Coasted to a halt, hood up. Diesel was leaking from a port on the outside bottom of the injector pump. tried starting engine. engine would start but was starving, or so it sounded, and died. i put a new o ring where the leak was from, but it was obvious the fuel was being driven past there at pressure. not high pressure, but high enough.

i timed out, had the truck towed, and got on a flight to edmonton an hour or so later. so here i am, researching injection pumps on 1HZs, and hoping it is something simple.

well, a bit of a wrap up. it is running again, and has four wheel drive, finally.

it was sucking in air through the injector pump side (timing) covers and leaking diesel out. Cam came round and sorted me out.

Since then the front diff was out and now I have a 4.56 set in the front. Pulled two leafs out of each pack up front to settle things down a bit. tie rod ends while I was at it. Couple weird things while putting axle back together:

The circlips normally round the end of the axle stub protruding out the end of the spindle were missing when I pulled the axle apart. I fit some OEM toyota versions, but now they won't allow the hub to fit on. not sure what's up there.

And, the power steering setup (ram assist) is very slow to return to center. I can make turns fine at slow speed, but when I try to return wheels to center, it is like there is no power assist at all. hmmm.

Dash is in pieces while I'm finishing putting in a 24-12 converter and a radio.

But it goes, stops, so I' m pretty happy right now. now just to clean the moss and wasps nest that have grown on it since it last moved!

Chris

On my truck the circlip's go on after the hubs? I know that on my one hub it doesn't use a circlip (selectro hub) but the asin type ones the circlip goes on after the hub

thread a bolt into the end of the birf and pull outwards while putting the circlip on... makes it pretty easy to do... I put vice grips on the bolt so I could get a better grip...
