Same story for me. We wanted an LC bad and had limited options in our rural part of the country. We came very close to overspending by a lot until I took the time to really narrow the search and figure out what's important. In our case it came down to color, maintenance records (not mileage), and an unmolested condition. I don't care for other people's mods, no matter how nice it looks, I want to do it my way. I would also recommend to avoid the stealership as you are paying a premium for a little lipstick and rouge. Warranties are readily available for most any car, although as a 25 year veteran of automotive service I feel these are typically a huge ripoff. I ended up building a handy CL search engine that pinpointed my basic criteria and ignored all offerings in less than desirable climates. The end result was the right year, right color, average mileage with complete service records from a private party in the desert for a very good (under book) price. A little baselining and a few bucks for a good detail and we are still invested THOUSANDS less than any local offerings. Money to spend on mods that I want! Good luck with the search and be patient...the right LC will find you!
