I got in touch with the seller (Shenzhen Klyde Electronics) through this contact. Probably would have taken the plunge but they won’t take a credit card from US buyers and insist on a wire transfer via Alibaba or direct payment by PayPal outside of Alibaba. I wasn’t comfortable giving up any buyer protections when there are US based resellers that seem like a safer choice for the same price.

Which US resellers did you contact? I contacted Shenzhen through Alibaba awhile back, and they quoted me about $350 a unit, but if I can get one here, i'd rather do that as well.

FWIW, 99% of the manufacturers i've dealt with in China, through Alibaba, have been pretty honest and reputable. I don't think you'll have an issue with them if you decide to proceed.

The two here that I know about are Phoenix Automotive and Rhino Radio. I went with Phoenix because they had a 20% off coupon that brought the total shipped to $500. That’s the same price I got from Klyde with a little haggling. Only difference was Klyde’s unit has an option for 64gb of rom (at a cost of $12) while Phoenix/Rhino only has the 32gb right now. Klyde also has the physical a/c buttons that some like. $350 sounds like a great price.

Klyde did seem honest and legit but more trouble to return and less likely to provide good support if there are issues (which the posters in this thread and the facebook group seem to have with their units, although Klyde said I wouldn’t have any of those problems). FWIW, people complain about support from all of the sellers but Phoenix answered they phone when I called with questions and were responsive on email.

haha then apparently i'm a plague survivor! got one from rhino and had it installed -- poor audio guy here had a field day with it. still has a hissing sound though with audio play / phone calls etc.....gotta take it back to troubleshoot. i do like it though -- does anyone else have issues with glare? i can't really see the screen well when i'm driving
