Hi folks,
Just installed a new head unit in my jdm 80.
Works get but blows the cig lighter fuse.
Also the blower fan motor hasn’t worked since I installed it.
Just pulled it back out and noticed it says +12V to ground on the head unit.
Can’t imagine this is not relevant.
Anyway, has anyone else been down this path?
Was there a solution???
Thanks.

What harness did you use? Pull factory amp?
Don’t think I have a factory amp. Used a tetra harness.
Wondering if I need to completely insulate it electrically and run a separate ground to the battery. That’s a real pita.

I had this problem when I installed a new stereo. Some of the wiring harnesses have a loop that I believe is for the antenna motor. I don't have a motorized antenna anymore. I cut this wire and everything worked as it should. No more blown fuses.
