I am still very interested, but could you clarify a couple things?

1) Did you end up going with Aluminum or Steel? What alloy/grade did you choose?

2) Have these been test fit in a 62? The bracket setup on my '88 FJ62 looks different than yours, but it could be my imagination.

Thanks!

1) I'll clarify today but requested steel

2) I only have access to 60, I thought that there was thread about someone putting in 60 seats into 62 but i couldn't find it.

If you have measurements or pictures I'll be happey to compare. I might try to post on my local chapter side and see if can get 62 to volunteer for a test fit.

maybe I'm reading you wrong, but $35 for a set meaning 2 seats or a set for one seat?

You'll need 4 brackets per seat (2 brackets for the front and 2 brackets for the rear).

1 - set is the 4 brackets, that allows you to bolt in 1 seat.

I also had trouble writing it out last night so I hope that makes better sense.

The price is more than fair. When I had four simple u-shaped brackets bent to bolt my two Hunsaker seats into my truck, along with eight small spacers, it cost $120 at the local metal shop. They only charged me for labor ($60 an hour). If this is a hassle free way to bolt the seats of your choosing into your Cruiser, it is a good deal.

Once you get them made, I may take a set to play around with. I like my set up, but I'm sitting a little too high in the cab. Thanks for offering up the product.

Do you know if the rear seat can still be layed down without having to set the front seat into igoritis position? My legroom up front is very tight as is with the stock seat and when i lay the rear seat down it gets tighter. Also how does the steering wheel feel with the raised seating?? I am interested in getting away from the stock seat.

Thanks

Chuck

Does this thread need to be moved into the "for sale" section?

Are you talking about the new seats i installed or how the brackets my affect the distance?

I'm not sure how to answer your question....? I can take some measurements if you want me to, slide the seat all the way back? Fold the rear seats down, take some pictures?

To answer your question about the steering wheel, if you notice at the beginning of the thread I'm using some 1st gen seat brackets that raised the seat a bit. The 2nd gen are lower profile as we tried to get them as close to stock as we could.

I'm only 5'8" so the added height of the seat and brackets was a plus for me. I could see more comfortably over the hood:clap:
At first I did think the the steering was closer to my thighs but I took out the measuring tape and compared it to my 2002 Tacoma (my DD) and it was almost to close to call any major difference. But again I'll be happy to take pix and send measurements.

Just let me know.

Those look nice

well I guess the guy that couldn't stand this thread being in a 60s forum got his way.

Wrong. The moderator, Mace, is tasked with, among other things, making sure that threads are in their proper places. This is turning into more of a for sale thread ( selling the brackets ) and thus the thread was moved.

Great Job

This is a really useful bit of kit for those of us looking to replace tired OEM seats.

Any idea if these will suit my HJ61RG - I am looking at a set of secondhand 100 series seats for the old girl.

Thanks again for taking the time and effort on this. ;)

This is in the for sale forum

What is the distance of the front (left and right) and rear mounting holes from the seat bracket?

Sorry for the delay on this, I did hit a snag with the fabricator so I'm looking for a new place.

Ok finally found a new fabricator and in the process came up with different design.
I'll have an more detailed update tomorrow, thanks for hanging in there.

Ok guys, I'll post of the pic of the new rear bracket tonight. According to the poll the there's about 34 members interested. I know there's usually some fall out and some interest on the 62 set ups, but I without pictures or the 62 floor plan, it's tough to confirm, (might have to check out SOR's site and look at the blow up images.)

So I might just order 30 sets and go from there.
