I really need some seats too. I refuse to drive to Alaska one more time with these stock seats. My friend just put some nissan seats in his fj55.
Man what a difference.....I think any other seat but the oem will do and feel better on my A$$!
This a must by spring.
Thanks for your input on your idea johnny.

No problem Tom. I once had the pleasure of sitting in a suspension seat and it felt like sitting on air compared to my stiff board 60 seats. These EMPI seats are true suspension seats and I am excited.

I would definitely be interested in a set. Looking hard for some good aftermarket seats and the major concern is how I am going to mount them. Seems like this would solve the problem!

I would most definitely be interested in a pair. Would these be universal mounts or are you going to make them seat specific?

The idea is that they would be universal. The bottoms fit the stock locations and tops will be wide enough to accommodate the various seat rail widths out there.

On my setup the passenger seat the *mounting holes are closer together than the drivers seat. This will be specific to the seats you plan to install.

*These are the holes that seat rails use to attach to the set.

Hope that makes sense?

New Bracket Design - lower profile

Ok here is the new design. This worked better than the first version I won't go into why but you can tell if you compare the pictures.

The deal would be that the ones that go into production would not contain angle cuts they would be square like the first design.

This will allow you to have enough material to be universal. Once you have the seat you want and rails they you decided what can be cut out and where you want the bolt holes to be.

On the rear brackets the holes that mount to the rail are threaded. Again this is up to you. It's hard to tell from the picture but they are thread.

Going to the machine tomorrow to get this going. I'm not sure on price yet, but something reasonable.

Also sounds like steel is preferred material, Is that a consensus?

Let me know if anyone wants more specific pictures.

Those are pretty. When mounted, what is the range in track widths you can use?

I suppose it could depend on where you drill the horizontal seat mount hole.

For instance in the picture below they are mount it's pretty much 16inchs end to end.

But the rail mount holes on top are only 13" 5/8" end to end.

The brackets are 2 inches wide so i guess if you went to the far inside of the bracket you gain some width...?

I would get a set. Also, part number on those summit seats? Thanks.

Well my story is complicated with the seats, which is why I had to make 2 different brackets. I originally ordered 2 of their gray seats. One I had to send back, it had a blem. The one they sent was a different tone of gray and rails where closer together that 1st seat.

I never had the seats together side by side until I had all the brackets done which was months later after I had received the seat.

I'm actually shaving the entry side bolsters foam down and had to cut some of the side seat frame that foam goes around. My 60 is on 35s and has 4 inch lift, so extra 3"-4" side bolsters made it a climb for (I'm 5,8"). I'll post some pictures of that on a different thread.

nice looking work man. looking forward to seeing a finished product and would love to have some brackets for my celica seats

Thanks! And remember the final product won't have the fancy angled cuts, it will be square on top and bottom, that's to allow you to customize for fitment of the seat and seat rails you have.

Ok guys getting to do the first run. How does $35 for a set (2 front and 2 rear brackets, enough for one seat) plus shipping sound? I think I had 23 replies on the poll. I hope to have one production set in my hands early next week if not by this Friday so I can post pictures.
