i moved mine up there too- the glare at night was annoying me on the steering colum
nice thing is i changed the backlight to match the 2M radio

Mine used to be down under the ashtray and the glare during the day made it really hard to read especially if the sunroof was open. Even with the backlight on high and trying different colours I could barely see the screen. With sunglasses on it was impossible. Now above the mirror I have the backlight on low and I never have any trouble seeing it.

Good job LC. That is the best mounting I have seen yet. I decided to go with the ashtray mount. The hardest part of the whole instal was running the wire under the dash. as far as the OBD port, I left mine accessable throught the fuse pannel (dont know if a shop will need to access it at one point). I unscrewed the two retaining screws and clips, placed the clips on the obd mounting holes and dropped the whole thing into the dash about 2". I admit I wanted to finish the project before the wife got home and If I was using my head I wouldnt have cut the fuse box cover to accomodate the 1/4" of sensor I had left sticking out. Oh well. The finished product looks great and It is an incredible feeling to know whats going on with your motor!

I owe everyone some pics. I'll try to get those up tonight.

anyone else having trouble downloading the IH8MUD app for Android?

3 year old thread. :) Way to dig up an old conversation and jump right in and discuss the topic as it was 3 years ago except not sure Android was out quite yet back then.

I downloaded it perfect on my Epic last Thursday.

Thanks Man! I dont think I can say anything on here that hasn't been said, or do anything to my truck that hasn't been done, so I plan on jumping in on old threads and just being a jackass for my own enjoyment not to mention documentation.

In all honesty I did not notice how old that thread was until you brought it up...Expect more confusing behavior from me in the future.

Il give the android app another rip, but till then this is my scangauge II mounting.

the odbII port has an alternate mounting point so that you don't have to trim your fuse panel cover...

Yea that's the second pic I see like that, and I cringe every time!

what does the scangauge do?

Monitors your Cruisers vital signs. Coolant temp, voltage, MPG, intake air temp, rpm's, check engine codes etc. It plugs into your ECU and gives you feedback in real time.

I know now. I totaly screwed the pooch by cutting the fuse panel cover. I will look for another cover and do the job right next time.

Im learning. I am from the mini truck world and I guess i just got used to having to cut things up to make them fit.:meh:

it happens. i probably would have done the same had i not scoured the scanguage threads prior to my install. :)

Welcome to MUD. Do some research before cuting anything. :-)

You could always start your own build thread. You never know what you might come up with.

I don't I must be the only person using a blendmount: Blendmount.com - Custom Radar Detector Mounts* Escort Beltronics Valentine One I wish I had skillz like the OP though that is an awesome setup!

where is the alternate ODBII port?

Also can you use both ports at the same time?
Ie either two scangauge units (someone has daisy chained them to get 8 display options at once)
But I would like the scangauge II plus a bluetooth ODBII scanner gauge to run onto a pc or android tablet.
Any thoughts?

jas

I put mine where the ash tray goes, same as 95LCMachine did above. Took out the ash tray and filed down the sides of where the ash tray went and it fits tight enough not to move. looks good and cannot tell it didnt come as OEM, got the idea from another mud member.

I think what was meant is that one can position the connector differently under the same cover, not that there are 2 ports.
