So I unhooked the bypass and plugged the original black and red starter wire back in and sure enough it wouldn't start. So I'm going to route a bypass using some 14 AWG primary wire but clean it up so it will at least be safe and passable until I can remove all of the coverings from the harness/cable bundles and hunt down exactly where this break down is with a multimeter or test lamp.View attachment 1234585
I'm guessing they bypassed the neutral safety switch.

Can you start the car in gear?

From what I understand there are some wiring differences between the LX 450 and the FZJ80, Lexus used different colors and wiring positions between the two models. I found a 1997 LX 450 EWD and it seems to match up pretty well so far with my '96. Just comparing the file you attached with what I have, there are some small differences already. I honestly can't find a beige-red striped wire anywhere in the entire EWD though so I have no idea where that thing goes to. I went ahead and cleaned up the bypass with appropriate wiring and splicing and so far it hasn't burned down so I think it'll be alright until I can really trace all this craziness. In the meantime I drained the transfer case and this is what I got out of it. Looking pretty nasty! I had planned on doing the differential fluids today too but it looks like I'm going to need a breaker bar to get the plugs off.

I'm pretty sure that wire is actually white/red, just discolored a bit.

MUD tip: Get a 15/16" 6-pt. socket, which fits a little tighter than the 24mm, and grind the lip flat for extra bite on the head of the plug.

Ok bringing this one back after a couple months without any set backs. So I've been working on installing a stereo and speakers to the cruiser because it didn't have anything in it aside from the little dash board tweeters/woofers at knee level. So it turns out that NONE of the stereo system gets power. No power to the head unit and no power to any of the speakers. I've checked ALL of the fuses and they are all good. I'm not certain if any of the fusible links have gone but I've been looking and haven't seen anything that looks separated. I think the factory amp may have been pulled out already as well. I know this might prevent power from getting to the speakers without the correct bypass but would it also prevent power from going to the stereo? The guys at the audio shop helping me out couldnt figure this out either and suggested just bypassing all the factory wiring. Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes, the factory amplifier supplies +12V power to the head unit (on the white plug).

Try using the the two gray plugs that Toyota also supplied behind the head unit for your aftermarket stereo. There's an adapter harness available, sorry I don't have the #.
