New on the list and already I have a question. I just got a brand new HZJ79 and it is now in the shop to fit an ARB front bumper and WarnXD9000. This should bring some muscle in the new 2007 face. It is my first Cruiser where I can't use the front bumper to sit on it :-)Q: Do I need to change/adjust /up-grade the coils to care for the additional weight?

Hi Alain and welcome to the forum. The 78.79.105 series OEM suspension is not highly regarded in oz and for outback work it is usually removed by govt and mining companies when new.

My suspension shop says it lasts about 6 months on bad roads. They have bins full springs of it that gets sent to the scrap metal yard. Some of the dealers tried to sell complete new suspension kits removed from 79 series for $200 but they couldnt move it.

The dealers here did sell the 78/79 series with a steel bullbar and 9000 warn but they did not upgrade the suspension.

Is yours the new V8 diesel wide bodied 79 series?

Hi All:

Greetings Alain! I remember you from the Land Cruiser Mailing List (LCML.) Have they changed the import rules in Sri Lanka so you can bring in new rigs?

Regarding the the front coil springs on your 79 Series, yes they will need to be replaced with coils that have a higher load rating. Otherwise the OE coils will bottom-out in short order with the increased weight of the bull bar and winch.

Regards,

Alan
