Interesting post over on Outdoor Adventure about a rebirth of the old style jerry can and a newly designed spout that meets CARB requirements.

Outdoor Adventure USA, LLC • View topic - Wavian Jerry Style Gas Cans

Poster said, and I have to agree, that it looks like the new compliant spout would fit on the older Wedco, etc. jerry cans.

Anyone have one of these or seen the new spout yet?

Really, in the grand scheme of things, who gives a rat's ass about, C.A.R.B. when it comes to gas cans, I still run the original G.I. cans, I've never been question about them, I live and have 4 wheeled in so Cal for 53 years.

Unfortunately Tysano, our wonderful PRK and the AQMD do care in there infinite stupidity head up their arse view, even if we do spill more gasoline with those damn CARB spouts than the old style!

PS - I've spilled more gas on my driveway using those silly CARB spouts than the gallons and gallons I've put in my truck with the old Wedco spout!

They like to ban people over there. :worms:

Worst idea ever to come out of the Republic of Kalifornia. I'm working on sealing my CARB jerry cans so they don't spew gas, that stupid o-ring set-up is ridiculous.

Guess this is as good as any place to post pic of my modified military gas can holder. My newer Septer (Costco, Pep Boys etc.) are too wide to fit in the original holder, but I still want the option of carrying my Nato or U.S. gas cans. I cut the outside of the holder so that the bottom was flat. Found a galvanized brace in my junk pile that was perfect for making an adjustable outer strap mount point. A couple of carriage bolts and done. Hope the pic explains better than my words. The whole shebang mounts to my spare tire.

Wavian has been making that setup for at least a year. I got so sick and tired of the cheap cans I bought a pair of cans from Zoro.com. They had the best price at the time. The CARB spouts seem to work better than those on the cheap cans. The Wavian brand cans are very good quality, heavy gauge steel.

I have been using the CARB Wavian Nato fuel cans and haven't had any problems with them leaking. I've logged about 5,000 off road miles with them being exposed to direct sun and temperatures over 100 degrees. That said, I DO NOT use the CARB pour spout that came with them. I use a super siphon to transfer directly from the swing out to the tank. The cans themselves do not vent or sweat like the plastic ones. In the high desert temps you need to be careful when opening due to vapor expansion.

It's not the jerry cans themselves that are the problem, it's the spouts.

Best solution I've found is a NATO can and one of those long transmission funnels. I can empty 5 gals. quick and NO drips. The one and only time I've ever used one of those CARB spouts, it flew apart and I never found the little spring. I still hope it isn't in the bottom of my fuel tank.

Same here, maybe there's a blanket ban for ih8mud members :hillbilly:

Perhaps it is because you two are not in the United States...

I clicked the link and it worked fine. If anyone was going to get banned I would think it would be me!
