Longtime listener, first time caller. How're y'all doing?
Proud owner of a Rear Locked 1999 UZJ100.
Vehicle was first purchased around 2020 with 113,XXX miles. It was bone stock, a slick top with no spoiler and a sunroof. I grew up in the Toyota world, buying and building 1st and 2nd gen 4runners, 3rd and 4th gen 4runners, a couple of Pickups, heck even a T100.
My dad introduced me to the 100 series platform via his LX470 back in 2015. He went on to build it and we hunted out of it for years. He'd always rib me and claim his 100 was superior to my other Toyota rigs. After enough time had passed, I wised up and scooped myself a 100 series. Since then I have not looked back. My vehicle is equipped with a stock rear locker. Lots of maintenance was performed on this specific rig over the years. Not just the fun kind of maintenance, but the needed maintenance. Dad guided me ensuring no stone went unturned. "Everything" needing to be addressed when baselining a 100 series was addressed. I say everything, but there is always something additional that could be done. Cheers to that.
I then went ahead and customized the vehicle to my liking as time went on. With that being said, the first week of ownership I slapped a set of 285/75r16 Nitto Trail Grappler MTs on the truck. I love a mud tire.
Pic Below.
The vehicle became my daily driver in no time at all, I used this truck to keep the miles off my 1994 Toyota PK SR5 4WD. The 1994 PK is a story for another time, for those of you who know this truck - you know how much I loved it!
The cruiser lived through a few phases. It's well traveled and was put together on a budget. Dad showed me the ropes when it came to lifting the 100's. Then found the Sahara on marketplace. If you look back at the first photo I posted of it on the MTs but bone stock, you'll notice the painted to match bedliner on the bumpers and lower half of the rig. I love it. This specific picture was taken after snowboarding for a week up in Colorado, I stopped off in Moab as I headed west to meet up with my bro @js0k down at King of the Hammers back in 2023. *Lifted, tinted, same tires as the first pic. ARB Sahara added*
It tasted the west coast and a few other cool spots, Hammers was a heck of an experience. Shoutout to Doublewrench and Rusty Nail Racing. Met some great people out there. The hundred has been wheeled around Texas, I used it to hunt each season, and it was my golden chariot - used as a commuter in some big city traffic for quite a few years. It got a chance to play up in Hot Springs Arkansas with some great friends. I thrashed it pretty hard. Hanging Judge Offroad and Quadlocked Offroad got together for some great times. Pictured below is the 100 stretching its legs up in Hot Springs, my bro @asu4runner is right outside the shot telling me to slow it on down... ha. I come from open diffs and stick shifts. The 100 with the rear locker was an absolute game changer.
It is not far from stock these days; small lift sitting on 33's, full skids including a rear diff skid and sliders thanks to Marshfab Offroad down here on the third coast. ARB Sahara up front as mentioned, Sway Away T Bars with some Ironman Shocks. Nitro Offroad UCAs. Diff was (and still is) dropped. Out back are some Ironman medium duty coils paired to some iron man shocks. Muffler was deleted, cats and resonator were retained. The rear seats are currently removed for my drawer and deck system. Looking to rework that this year and add my jumpseat back. 3's a crowd but I like crowds. Might even reinstall the rear seats.
As of 2026 the truck has rolled over 180,XXX and has taken me across the country multiple times on my own personal excursions. The most recent adventure was taking this thing to the upper peninsula of Michigan. Great wheeler, explorer, and daily driver. It has seen many other rigs come and go, but this one I plan to keep. I recently purchased a 2003 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab TRD Off Road 4wd w/rear locker to replace the 100 as my "daily". Below is the 100 series in its current state. I had to throw the KMCs on there. I do miss the stock rims however, I would go back to stock if I found those shiny chrome looking 16's. I think they'd look great with the Sahara up front.
Pic below.
I have scoured mud for years, thanks to my dad. Look forward to using the site now as a member rather than just a lurker. Also, I do aim to own a 60. I had a 97 FJZ80 CE - wicked rig, but I chose the 100 over the 80... I realize that I simply just need a 60.
Cheers y'all and God Bless!
