The World Headquarters got a little love today. I needed to be able to put my Yakima bike rack on it since the 4runners hitch would now be occupied by the tent trailer.

Got to looking at the existing design and it was really flimsy stuff. Decided it needed a whole bumper straight across to get any strength. Had some junky 3x2" laying around so I went for it.

Made sure to round the corners since kids would be walking around this in the dark in a campground. Used my plasma cutter for the 2nd time ever and it was awesome!

Welded it to all 4 stubs for some added strength. The stock one was just bolted on.

Just in case you didn't know whose campsite you were in.

 SWeet!

Well, the kids thought the trailer was awesome and wanted to spend the night in it in the driveway every day for a week. At 3am one morning one of the kids rolled over and the entire back wall of the trailer separated from the side. It only moved about 6" but you could now see all the exposed wood rot. Scared the crap outta my kid but the bed only sagged in one corner a little bit so he went back to sleep and told me about it in the morning. That happened two days before its inaugural camping trip...oh well.
So today in "My Redneck Summer Vacation" (<<I think I could start a show named that) I had my kids transform the trailer into a utility trailer! They weren't allowed to have lunch until it was done. It is now incredibly light and easy to load so it'll be excellent for picking up tires, axles, engines, lumber and anything else requiring a low deck.

Evidently the camera didn't click when I had the cap of the trailer hanging from the ceiling. It was a good time!

2 1/2 hours of work and its all done! It is in desperate need of a new deck and to be rewired but we'll get to that another day! Class dismissed! They earned an hour on the Xbox. :hillbilly:

So now all you do is measure out the footprint of your tent, or find one that fits, set some anchors and viola you still have a trailer tent setup and dual purpose. :hillbilly:

Wow! The palace has been leveled!

I won't be showing this thread to my kids... ; )
