Hello everyone, my name's Jason, and I'm the proud owner of a LandCruiser once again. Finally! I had an all original '75 back in college in the mid-90s and loved the thing to death, but had to sell when moving and I've of course wanted one again ever since.
The only thing I could afford was something that needs some work and a good handful of parts, so I'm turning to you guys for any advice. Regarding the Gas Tank, I see online quite a few '74 and later models in the $200-300 range, but the earlier ones like thos for my '71 seem to be in the $600-700+. Ouch!
Would appreciate any leads or links if you guys know of something cheaper or any alternatives. Perhaps this is sacrilege around here, but I'm not overly concerned with all parts being OEM. Also need new tail lights, carburetor and distributor...later on I'll probably be requesting a ton of cosmetic enhancements. Thanks so much for any advice!! So happy to be here and can't wait to contribute to the forums. Have a great afternoon. :)

My 72 developed a seep in a seam back late 80's or so. I did the alcohol resistant gas tank liner from JC Whitney. Still leak free.

hmm...i wonder if i could do that too. as far as i can tell my tank is in solid shape but it's a bit rusty inside, so my mechanic suggested buying a new one so i figured that was my only option.

Amayama Tteading shows 77001-60013 still available with 77001-60012 as a substitute. $188 and $170 shipping. If they actually have better $600 and it is OEM.
Shoot, I just heard back from Japan: "Even though we only supply new and unused parts, fuel tanks are stopped by Japanese customs as the description includes the word "Fuel" which is prohibited for shipping. We understand that there is no actual fuel in the tank, however Customs are very strict so they reject the tank without further inspection. Amayama Trading has no way to intervene in this process so fuel tanks are cancelled from orders prior to approval.

Thank you for your understanding,
Amayama Trading Co. Ltd."

Ugh, back to the drawing board. Wonder if this is a newer regulation as it sounds like people have succesfully ordered this in the past.

Part of the rules here is more pics! Lots and lots!!
haha, you've got it buddy! i don't know what the previous owner was thinking with this paint job, maybe he was a hunter. the inside is flaking off really easily and showing the beautiful original white/clear coat. hope to get as much of that off as possible and then slowly address the rust issues...classic damage to rocker panels and bottom of doors, but a lot seems to be just surface rust so i hope it cleans up nicely.
