Finally posting up but been lurking for about a year +-. Frist off; thanks to Woody and all others who make this such a great site!

My name is Travis, live in NW Oregon.

A little over a year ago my wife and I had the chance to get ahold of a '72 Fj40 that her godfather has owned since '75. My wife grew up on a ranch in the East Bay area (CA) and this rig had spent much of its life there on or around the ranch... pretty hammered to say the least so i figured we would do a quick and dirty resto. I farm and fully intend to use it when its done so i had no intention of going full out on it. As with most builds, plans change!

The plan; keep it simple, pull the 1f and swap to a 2f/4speed trans and 3speed case. Cut and replace quarters, repaint, and drive the hell out of it!

Did i mention plans change? has turned into a frame off, 4bt/ nv4500/ splitcase. has the fj40 axles, 4 wheels discs, fj60 outers with 4runner brakes es, spring flip, '75 column and wheel, using an early hood (like the look) and lots more.

This is not ment to be an OG resto, its what I want it to be.

a little moe.... 4x4 labs frombe and Sag. kit, Steed Speed intake, Wh1c turbo and an intercooler from Godspeed/ fatboy.

Big thanks to Mr Jits for helping out with the new wiring, I made a mess of it!

Hi all,

Wow, talk about "MIBS" ;)

Nicely done with the prep work for the Saginaw PS conversion.

Regards,

Alan

I'm talking with Stockton Wheel right now about a custom 17" x 7" to look factory, there unsure that they can do a 17 but a 16" with hub cap clips is easy enough.... they say anyway. Michelin 16x9 XZL military tires might look good, my guess is that its not going to ride like a caddy anyway.

I like to load the easy way... pre-paint

Sounds like I might end up with a 16"x8", still looking at the tire options. No new axles yet, I don't know how to wheel anyway .:)

You decide to go with fuel injection yet?

Decided that it was time to deal with finding a location for the battery. Not into the idea of having it in the tub and only one spot under the hood so this is what I came up with. The last pic looks like there may be a hood clearance issue but it it clears fine.

Picked up some gauges (glow shift), built a box out of stainless and quickly painted it...

Larger gauge; 3 in 1- boost, EGT and water temp
Second; oil pressure
Third; volt gauge

As you see from the pic, my lower dash pad is incorrect, I'm up for trading it for the correct one if anyone needs what I have.

Fired up the 4bt today for the first time... after reading post after post about how noisy theses things are I'm pleasantly surprised at the sound and smoothness. I have a video to share but issues with linking it... I'll keep trying.

Love the 4BT. Super clean build. Put up some videos if you can!

Just a quick update;

I've been able to find between 30 minutes and a hour a day to work on "Parker" (ever watch paint dry?) and now have it about 90% +- completed (are they ever??). Loving the torque of the 4bt! Hopefully once we get through harvest this year I'll find some time a right up a proper build thread until then have a gander at Parker....already getting dirty.
