New Gamiviti Rack from HIH

With the side rails running nearly the entire length, it seems that it might be a pain to get to the nuts on the mounting brackets of an RTT. I have the earlier version of the same rack and have found that it's the best rack for the money.

I use an extended 13mm ratcheting wrench to instal/remove the RTT mounts. I keep my rack on a low setting so it sits close to the roofline. I can just barely get my hand in there. You can order long handled ratcheting wrenches on Amazon, or do what I did and just sacrifice one and weld a long handle on it.

Did you have to use the "Tower Riser Kit" (as per website gives an extra 2" of height) to create enough room for the larger light bar opening?

Really loving this racks versatility.

Nope, it just clears the roof line with the rack at a very subtle tilt down in the rear. I already had that light bar on hand, in retrospect the style they are making now using the shorter, slimmer light bar behind the faring is a better setup IMO. I think mine and the new style were prototyped in parallel. Certainly no need to change what I have though I like it a lot.

Actually I do the front mounts through the sunroof while sitting in a leather seat .

The rears are a bit of a reach but not any big deal at all.

I saw the new Gamiviti rack at HIH. I wanted it on the spot! Unfortunately, I have a full FR Slimline. Trying to figure out how to sit in a rock fall or avalanche zone on Red Mountain Pass and destroy the FR without damaging my LC, Then I can order one from Tim!! Maybe drop a tree on it? I will consider suggestions!

Man I should jump on mud more often perhaps Will do my best to add value to address the points here...

- Yes I am just terrible at updating the website. Put the fairing on the list of stuff I still need to get up there, like the seat belt mic holders. I came up with 2 mounting options- one is just some clamps to hold it, the other is the custom clip I had made, like Alex posted pictures of (thanks, man!) I haven't even shipped one of these yet, so still don't have a total price but will resolve that shortly- Also there's a new set of awning receivers in production right now that will be more universal- so ARB, CVT, and Foxwing will all be bolt-up, with plenty of meat for drilling to fit any others I haven't run across.

- The light bar option we're doing now really works well. We got lucky on the design somewhat, though it was intentional. The drop-down of the front bar frames it in as intended, and shields the light from the windshield better than expected. So at night you don't get any light at all inside the truck, doesn't light up the hood and windshield or all the dust on your dash, just throws light down road. There are brighter lights out there, but for $190 these 39" bars certainly do the job.

-Yes the full Expo basket makes bolting things up a little more difficult, mostly the rack itself. Just about the time you have it down you will be on your last bolt. Perk for the local & event guys is, I'll jump up there with you. However tents and stuff isn't that big of a deal, as usually you go from the back or front. I bolt my RTT on through the sunroof in front, and standing on the tailgate.
-The grids seem popular now, I personally have a love/hate relationship with them. Love the looks, and usefulness for smaller items. Don't love how they grab ratchet straps. But most of what I haul on the rack is other roof racks, so YMMV. They also add a bit of weight, probably 10-15 pounds? Don't notice it once on the truck, but we definitely notice it when moving them around in the shop. Will toss up a pic to keep the fun going here.. cheers.

sorry to bring this up again but what do you guys do when it snows and the snow ice etc gets under there??? do you guys just leave it there? we have to remove all here due to flying debris ice chunks hitting other cars etc. I'm not a lawyer but have witnessed in person a huge chuck coming off a van and taking out 3 cars on the New Jersey Turnpike.

Now question for you is it possible to have minimal salts going across to keep the rack strength but be able to bolt in more slats for when using the rack for example tents and stuff etc? is that to labor intensive or not design possible?? You guys that live in the snow states have to do something??? everybody can't have a garage etc

I love the rack design having those grab areas seem perfect for me etc just worried about the mess/cross member stuff

I've not had my rack in the snow as of yet. Even with the OEM rack, any rack for that matter on any of my vehicles, you just brush the snow off. Hell sometimes I've been so lazy I've fired up the leaf blower and blasted the snow off. I've never seen or heard of people getting hurt, injured, property damage etc from ice falling off a vehicle that its removal had become mandatory.

LOL I have used the blower but the problem I see it that this rack is much sorter so getting a brush or hand under there to get the ice chunks out will be really hard. I still have my original rack and have to deal with just the 2 spans right now; this rack has a lot more. I wish I was closer so could tinker with the rack and get something modified. This is the best looking and functional rack I have come across yet.

I had mine on for most of the winter last year in Colorado. The sun melts the snow usually before the end of the day, hardly ever any build up. I'm guessing the sun doesn't come out as often in NJ during the winter. Our snow is also a lot drier, usually. That said, I've stood on top of the rack , so I would assume you could too and use a broom to sweep the snow between the bars. Or get a long handled floor squeegee that can get under the rack to use without standing up there. You may also want to mount the rack as high as possible on the towers and/or get the tower extensions.

Sure look like 295/70/18 to me and a 1" body lift...you can see the gap between the rear bumper wing and the body panel (same on the front)
