Wanted to thank everyone at tonight's meeting for the warm welcome. I got some great tips in a short period of time, mostly not to try to follow any of you guys with the heavily modified trucks. ;)

If you have been following my threads over in the 60 series forum 1989 FJ62 Woody Rust Repair Begins, I have been slowly repairing some serious rust.

My plan is to get it trail ready soon, nothing extreme.

Da Basic Plan
  • Rear Locker (Aussie or Lunchbox?)
  • Modify springs and replace all shackles, pins and bushings.
  • 33's x 10.5 (Super Swamper TSL Radials?)

For those I met tonight, I will learn everyone's name, but it might take a few meetings, I'm terrible with names.

Good meeting you as well.

Lunchbox lockers are all pretty much the same so Aussie, Spartan, and lock rite are all great choices.

If you're gonna get all new shackles, pins, bushings, I'd go with ironman products. OME are good, but IM provides more protection from stray rocks for the small greaseable nipples.

Goodyear duratrax or Goodyear kevlar MTRs are an excellent on road and off road tire if you want to stay away from the KM2s. I know a few people with each and they all LOVE the dual purposeabilty of them. The Toyos MTs are a great choice as well.

Welcome aboard Matt!

It was great to have ya at the meeting last night and hope to see ya on the trail and at future meetings. Truck looks good and seems like you have been quite busy working on it. Get it on the trail :steer: soon so you can enjoy it for what it was made for...
