New Front Bumper

I think akarilo has some good information and ideas. We cover a lot of territory here and each of our needs can be very different. What works for one may not work for another which we all know doesn't mean it's not good.

I applaud akarilo for thinking for himself. At a time when 60 series owners don't have many choices it creates a wide open field for thinking for oneself. Not everyone can afford $1200+ for a bumper.

Not knocking anyone's comments, just praising him for thinking and fabbing for his own needs and wants.

How could that be modified to accomodate a winch?

i think you could modify it buy leaving the 2 inches he cut off of the frame.......making some brackets that set the bumper out a few more inches and then building a plate similar to the plate 2mbb built for his winch.

Great looking bumper, I wasn't sure how a pipe/tube bumper would look but i like it. It leaves a lot of customization potential since it is very simple, and i like the way the bottom tube bends in a similar fashion to the bottom of the grill turn signal config.

akarilo, since i didn't compliment the bumper now i am going to offer what i would think would be an upgrade to compliment your bumper, offer more protection, and also still be doable with the equipment that was used to do this. It would also allow for a winch for anyone curious. THIS DOES NOT MEAN I DON"T LIKE YOU SETUP!!!

Build a top tube that is bent so that it connects to the top right and top left of the current bumper set up while also sticking out from center a certain amount, less if you don't use a winch, more if you do. When you Build that you could put some flat steel either smooth or diamond plated on the top to have a sort of platform. put you some struts from the top tube to the bottom frame connetors and you have a triangulated low profile bumper that coudl possibly accept a winch.

I don't like it..

just weld one of these to the bumper (:flipoff2: )

Speaking of... :flipoff2:

Anyone see the winch fairlead on the yota on page 119 of the August Peterson's 4wheel and offroad?

Cracked me up, can't find a picture online to post here.

Sorry for the hijack Akarilo!

I like the setup, working on my first welding project with the help of another mud member next week. Looking forward to projects like this too. I'll second the original comment above and looks great!

Relax. That wasn't a knock. It looks like nice work, it's a good design for a lot of places - But in the land of big fat deer, really dark nights and 6 ft snowbanks, that bumper's a little lightweight. Doesn't mean it's not a great fit for your machine, your use, yourself. However, some people (such as I) think an ARB is too lightweight.

Thanks for clearing that up for him.

To each his own b/c each type of bumper works for different people. Not enough for me b/c of deer! I would rather have the extra frame and a stock bumper in my area. But that will prob work nicely where clearance is at a premium!

It looks nice. Plate might be cool in the gaps.

heres mine. let ,e know if you want more info, its pretty simple
