Hand impact is fine for the canister screw. Support the dissy and the canister before really whacking it. IOW, don't whack the screw with the dissy just clamped in the vise at the bottom.

With Jim's advice I was able to get some seized screws out with the impact driver and re-tested the vacuum advance to find the rod is seized. I guess it is time to find another one. Maybe I will do the FJ60 swap.
