Kinda cool watching build this rig, when you see them building the axle housing and mouting the 4 link mounts without being under the truck shows you how much engineering has gone into this thing.

Must be fun to have really cool CAD programs and a engeering degree to boot.

Nice work..........

Nothing is on a computer on this rig.

Tom has made drawing of every angle of the build.

He is an amazing guy.

so who gets to sit with their nut sack right on top of the front output ? Is that third the high pinion bling like yours ? The .090 wall tube won't fold on impact points ? I hate you rich fawkers . Poor ole 40 looks lame compared to this stuff.

I will ride with my sack over the output...no sweat :D

That third has more bling than mine....mine is just a standard 3rd that is upside-down with a bad ass one-off oiler that Sunray designed.

.090 Crome Moly will take it. Tough s***.

two more...these are the ends for all the suspension links....

and lastly, a little bling courtesy of PSC Powersteering....

Ok, gun drilled twisties and turned down threaded inserts for them are super bling.

Jim, you are seriously at risk of your rig being better looking than you. :D :D :D :D

can you post a pic of a complete "link" or "joint" or whatever you call that dealio?

bad-ass so far, that's for sure. i love watching the buildup threads, spawns lotsa ideas.

Here is one of Nolen's, not turned down and gun drilled, but the same basic parts.

don't mean to hijack the thread, ah, what the hell, let's do it anyways.
what would the pros and cons of these "joints" be versus say a johnny joint or a heim end?

The bling on Sunray's twistys is not the threads, it is the piece that the threads insert into and twist. They are machined with an O ring on each end so they keep grease in and crap out.

That is just some of the weight savings stuff Tom has executed on this rig. I can't wait for you guys to see it all.....

Another nice feature with the Sunray twisty is the rubber insert......It allows for a close tolerance fit and no play in the joint....the rubber compound is specificly engineered for this use and holds up well to trail use.

Jimbro

and Ed, that hurt! :D :D :D :D

Johnny's are known to wear out and get sloppy. Heims are nice if you pay for the high quality ones and replace them when they wear out.

Cons are Heims are metal-on-metal and the "twistys" use rubber XJ bushings which take up some of the shock your control arms get, extending the life of the control arm.

Also, there is 360* of movement in the Twisty, unlike the Johnny Joint.

hijack almost over, i promise. what sizes do the twisties come in and how much are they?
