very nice job. I'm thinking of building mine out of aluminum. How was working with the wood?
Also, how much $ were the slides?
How does it mount to the floor?

Great setup, so nice and clean! Makes me want to build mine ASAP!

I would like to see that aluminum setup...

Very nice job indeed! You should be proud of your handy work and attention to details. I've often wished I had a long but skinny compartment for stuff like axles, rifles, DS, etc near the center of the vehicle and your design is perfect. I'll be copying it for cargo drawer #3. Guess I'll be putting mine up for sale soon!!

Couple of suggestions:
-place a good quality lock for the gub compartment. Great place to hide things when hiking or in the bad part of town.
-those latches used to lock the drawers in place may not work if you got a heavy drawer and pointing up hill. Maybe replace the wood screws with nuts and bolts?
-place a latch or a pin to hold the drawers open when the nose is pointing downhill!

Nice job!

Alia176 and I might be finishing up mine this weekend... we'll see if wheeling doensn't get in the way :hillbilly:

Cool another Aluminum unit , cant wait to check it out.

I hope to be done with mine this weeekend as welll..

Hijack off......

Strong work charleston!

sseaman - would love to see a write up and pics of your screen work, especially for the rear sliding windows.

sweet now ive got some ideas for mine

so can you put together a parts list....tools list...and lay it out in a set of directions for us dummies to download or print out so we can adjust it to our own trucks and build as well? Great work...I am thinking you can template that one and sell them to other cruiser owners around you. Hell template a 60 and I will get one and give you some cash in pocket to boot...LOL

Here are the drawings I used. If you want to build one just follow these and try and get it as close as possible.. Nothing is exact when using wood but I tried to get within 1/8th inch on all my cuts and just shimmed up the drawer slides to make it all fit nicely. http://www.dustinryan.com/fzj80/dimensions.pdf

You can always come by and check it out in person to see how easy it really is. This was my first build like this of anykind. :flipoff2:

Great Job!

Hey Dustin, great job! Thanks for the details and pics. Chuck

Looks good. My first drawer system sucked... Time for another one. I may steal some ideas from you on this one!

Go for it, but I though you were going to sell your rig? Hey next time I'm in portland I will have to look you up. I grew up in Troutdale. I fly over a few times a year for snowboarding on hood.

Everyone should own a Land Cruiser and an AR...should be the official 'Cool Guy' starter kit! Oh yeah...sweet cargo box

I think I missed something....it started out as a two drawer system but then I only see one large drawer at the end....???
