Dude to be honest I know fj45s and I hope you did not pay a lot of money for that truck. It is going to need a lot of work and that frame is bad. I paid $10, 500 for my FJ45 its also a 77 same color real solid complete truck.

I also know fj's. And i knew the issues it has before i bought it. I know what its gonna take to get it where i want it. The frame is not that bad it is one area that needs to be handled. The rest is great. Im not looking for someone to pump my tires here lol. And i paid nowhere near what you paid. Lets see your rig Mr 1 post lol.

Dude, that thing is sweet.... You HAVE a floor in your cab!! And a roof with built in A/C!

It'll have to wait until spring, but just wait until I post pics of my 45, if we were in a 45 show, you'd win concours!

Feels good though, since I know I paid less than 1% of what Lightfoot paid!

Don't toss any of those bed parts out!

First I don't know you and you don't know me. As it goes for knowledge of these rigs I don't know your back ground and you don't know mine.

If you read what I said which is easy to read I said I hope you did not pay a lot for that truck (((( why because it needs a hell of a lot of work ))))

As it goes for the frame you stated one side needs some work the rest is great.

As it goes for my truck I had a truck just like yours and when I started looking into it more it was not worth it when there are better fj45s kicking around.

Like i said lets see yours! Also if your willig to spend alot of money there is always rigs around! Asin other side be more specific. Like outsideof the frame where the damge is? Its just the C channel thats rusted. Sure i was also looking at 12-15k rigs before i bought this one but i wasnt looking for one just to drive daily. I wanted a project and knew exactly what i was getting into. Where are all these other 45's rund for sale???

Hey @Lightfoot - don't take us the wrong way... Honestly... As you said, we don't know you - but making your first post in a thread full of guys who have been on this site for -in the neighbourhood of 10 years- stating that "you know FJ45's" is perhaps a little obtuse way of entering the conversation...

Some of us here enjoy a challenge in re-building / rescuing these types of trucks, no matter how bad the condition. Yes, it's always possible to spend more money and buy something in better shape, but that's not always the point. If I could afford to buy a 45 straight off the lot of one of our fine restoration companies, it would be fun to have and to drive, but not the same as putting our own blood sweat and tears into it to make it our own. Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder - and one mans trash is another mans treasure - so please be careful of what you say is "not worth it"

As I said, don't take us the wrong way - we all share the same sickness - welcome to the forum, allow me to be the first to give you the "mud salute" :flipoff2: (If you don't believe me, use search). I hope that you are able to help us all out with your knowledge of the 45's - we are always happy to have more knowledge on this site, and more than that - I hope that some of us are able to perhaps help you out when you come up with something you may need help with some day. That's what this site is about, and why we are all here.

Here is one picture last summer with org rims mind you I had them sandblasted and painted and I bought some narrow tires from the states and tubes. I want to try to keep it stock since like yours they are getting hard to find.

I will down load more picture in a bit, I have been on this site before and I am happy to see another fj45 being rescued in Canada.
I drove back that yellow 1976 fj45 from Calgary 2 years ago and the frame went on me 3 hours from home. When I got home I was over my head in the condition it was in and I put it on ebay and I lost a few thousand on it. But I did find this beige one in Barrie Ontario before selling the yellow one. The first thing I did other then looking at the truck was went under and looked at the frame and I had another guy with me with a second opinion and he said its solid and I looked and it was solid. I'm not saying the truck that I bought for $10,500 is a barret Jackson auction truck but its solid no bondo.

I do have extra parts in my garage for fj40's and fj45s which helps if you need something you find.

Ah yes i recall that yellow 45 and the journey. Thats a good looking truck! Was it on kijiji. I have been hunting kijiji for a decade lol. I figure ive seen almost everyone for sale in the last 10 years. If you come across a decent box let me know!

I recall some guy telling me there are some nice fj45s in Sask as of who owns them I'm not sure. If I come across a box I will let you know.

On topic of out west I am thinking of flying out once again this time to BC to buy a 1984 BJ42 and drive it back across Canada.

As it goes for the yellow fj45 I bought I have no regrets the trip was fun and I meet Kevin45 and a few other people and the seller was a great guy and the frame broke due to stress on the way home so its all good.

Here is a picture of the Bj42 1984 in BC

Yes that was jason who prob mentioned 45 ' s. He just knew of a couple out there. Mine came from bc. That would be a long trip in a 45 that's for sure man! I'm raising my seat 2" to make it a little more comfortable. That's a nice looking bj

It was Jason your right. If you take the top off the FJ45 I mean both the top and rear top you can slide the seat back more and it helps. I'm 5'11" and its just right. With top on its a bit s***ty for leg room.

Heres a picture of my mom at hospital beside my truck after her stroke. I thought to get her outside and see the truck would help a bit. As you notice these are the rims the seller had on them. The truck was stored for years and I think that's why its not rusted out.

Yes being stored does help!!!. I'm not too worried about leg room just a nicer sitting position . Hope tour mom liked the 45.

Are you saying you are running tubed tires? Just curious as to why - is there an advantage, or just personal preference? Nice 45!

Hey Brett that's a nice truck! I wish you were closer, my extra bed would be a lot of help for you.

Michael <><

Meh, only a 3500 mile round trip for him... Only 1500 miles more than it would be for me :hillbilly:. Besides, it's probably warm down there, and I bet gas is CHEAP!

(Does math in head)

Hmm, that'd be about $700 just in fuel for the 80 at local gas prices!

Too bad my truck is a duramax on 37's!!!! Me and Micheal have been chatting for a month or so already -29C this morning here and we got 10" of snow yesterday
