When you took off the running boards it exposes this heavy piece attached to the frame. Vibration dampener. It's there for a reason. Most, including myself, have taken it off. Makes for a clean and symmetrical look on your truck.

Nice man. I recently picked up an 01 LX with 150K and got F5s as well. Went with black though. Looking great!
