Just picked up a 2014 with 35K on it. In perfect mall cruiser form. Seriously doubt this thing saw more that a gravel road.
Dobisons lift, bumpers, Slee sliders, Icon rebound wheels, 35x12.5 tires, warn winch, gamviti roof rack all ordered and on the way. For those of you that have put 35's on, did you need to regear? If so what did you go with 4:88?
Love the silver, nice starting point. I'd research what it takes for 35s extensively before you commit. 34s may be a much better plan. Read here first:
I recently went through this journey in my build thread, but I figured it might be easier to locate in the future on its own as more members buy and build trucks and try to determine which size tire is appropriate. I think it's safe to say just about everyone wants to go bigger when they get new...
Lots of research has gone into the 35’s including lift, wheel spacing, tire, bump stops, KDSS relocation, and fender trimming. They just look better on 35’s. I know it’s going to be work, but it’s worth it to me. I had to re gear my 100 when I jumped to 35’s, just not sure on the 200.
Anyway, just speaking of regearing, I’d like to give two view points. If you havn’t ever regeared, you probably don’t feel a 200 needs it. Since you have regeared a Cruiser before, and living in Colorado, you will probably feel a 200 needs it with 35s and a high clearance front bumper.
I would not waste your time with anything other than 4.88s for 2008-2015.
And to give you why “I” think the way I do. To help with if you think the same way. I solely believe regearing is for highway cruise power and not low end grunt. In every other vehicle world, it’s not viewed well to regear diffs for better crawl ratio. But in the 200 world, where there is no easy lower transfer case ratio options, I feel people are thinking that lower diff gears will help them off road, which really doesn’t that much. Sure a little, but not worth it in my opinion. But when on the highway, yeah, with 33s on my first trip is was like, “I’m regearing the second I get back.” And I did, and it did what it did to my other trucks, make driving great again. That’s me, I’m sure others will disagree.
Totally with you. Only gearing for off road would be transfer case with super low, 4 low. Not an option on a 200 that I know of. I would re gear for passing, towing, and highway.
I chose to delete them. Partially based on the fact that I never use them, partially based on the fact that new sensors which would match my bumper are kinda pricey ($75-$100 each if I remember correctly). I thought about buying new sensor mounts which are $5 or so in gray or black from Toyota but didn't think the red sensor would look right and didn't know if painting the originals would last
