Need your input on my smog test results (1 Viewer)

On a stock '76, (the Power Valve) is controlled electronically by the ECC. Weak manifold vaccum holds it closed and when you put the pedal to the metal, the VSV vents it to the atmosphere through a small vacuum buffer tank to slow the opening.

I soldered some ECC connections and traced some wires. It was more wrong than right. I didn't get to test all the systems, but the power valve is working for sure. It's easy to test. According to the diagram it also has a speed component that I don't understand. I'm going to build an emissions SST now that I understand how it's supposed to work.

Irony of ironies is that my very early '76, among the oldest vehicles that still needs to pass, actually has the smog system from a '75, which would not have to pass at all. The only difference is the Aux Accel Pump (AAP). JimC rebuilt the carb, so presumably it works and now it's hooked up correctly to manifold vacuum through a BVSV.

I found that the Haynes manual has most or all of the emissions diagrams. Coolerman has copies of those pages on his site as well.
