Need some help wiring up my lights. Got a Dissent rear with the combo lights and instead of going to the tail lights I thought it‘s easier to use the trailer adapter.
Already got a Curt 55365 with the 4 Pin connector.
Splicing the bumper lights in: do I need to do it in front or after that electronic box of the 4pin adapter?!
Or would I splice the 7pin factory installed connector (passenger side, close to exhause) and leave the Curt stuff untouched?
After reading more and more in different forums I think I made up my mind. Happy to get comments.
Ordered a junction box, so that I'm free to add any other lights later down the road.
I'll splice the existing Curt wiring connector #55365 (behind the control box) to get tail and brake lights as well as turn signals for the Dissent Combo lights.
Then I need to splice the reverse from one of the tail lights into the junction.
This way I reduce any impact/ change the factory harness to a minimum and can still use the 4-pole for a small trailer.
Noted. The main drawback I see might be the wiring down to the bumper lights. I put 4 (or 5?) wires in place when mounting the Dissent and I damaged one wire while installing the bumper.
I guess pulling reverse, brake and tail light only from side and go to a junction box would work?!?
Would I need another control box going from the tail light to the bumper?
