The :princess: and I need to find a cabin for rent in norther GA, preferable north central or northeast GA, for a few days next week - probably Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights (August 20-23). We are looking for a small cabin, high elevation, and in the middle of no where. Don't need nuttin' fancy or high falootin'.

Any suggestions?

Oh, and I would prefer not to break the bank either.

Well if you dont mind going just a little further into Murphy, NC, Crawford's Camp grounds has a couple nice cozy cabins. Nothing fancy and not alot of $$$. Just small 2 storie cabins. Little kitchen, bathroom, living area down stairs, and beds up stairs. They arent high on the mountain and there is 2 sitting together on their own part of the grounds. Lots of scenic area through the area surrounding. Wateralls, trout streams, national forest land to ride around and be in the middle of nowhere. If this is what your looking for I would go there if seclusion, little exploring, checking the forest and other things out in the area and inexpensive. Most of the high, awesome view secluded cabins are $$$. Other than those I dont know of any in N. GA area that arent $$. Also I cant remember his name at the campground but is super nice and I am sure its pretty quiet since they closed Tellico.

Danny is the guy who owns Crawford's. Yup, he is a very nice guy and a friend of mine. I'm very familiar with the area but I think the wife doesn't want a wheelin' campground to be a part of this stay.

Also stayed in the small cabins and the large cabin which is really a house. both are nice and a good deal.

Steve,
Give Sandra a call at
http://tellicovacationrentals.com/
She is located in Tellico Plains which is further north than what you said. However, she has a wide selection of well maintained cabins situated around Tellico Plains so the views are great and there is a lot to do (Skyway, forests, hiking, kyaking, sight seeing, ...). Even my wife likes going to the mountains if we are staying one of these cabins.

I don't know the timing for your plans, but rental rates hit their peak starting in a few weeks for fall colors. Good luck and have a great time.
