Need to move stuff from Whitehorse to Vancouver, ideas??

So my Aunt lives up in Whitehorse and was quoted about $5000 to move about 2 bedrooms of stuff to Vancouver (she is moving back here next year).
She thought she would give me the chance to make some money if I wanted.
So I get the $5000 and figure out how to move her stuff.
Basically I would fly up there I guess, rent a truck there and drive it back, I get the leftover cash.
Any ideas on how to do this cheaply so that I make more?

Get in touch with local, smaller outfits that fly shipments up to that area and find out how much it would cost for you to tag along if that is an option. I know there are a couple outfits in Richmond that fly smaller aircraft to Norther BC and beyond.
Another cheaper but painful way of getting there is Greyhound.
Do the reaserch about renting a cube truck, the biggest cost is going to be the one way rental fee, you'll have to go with a place that will allow you to do that and has branches here so you can return it - otherwise, you have to drive all the way back. Good luck.

Buy Cheap diesel truck, drive up, move ant drive down, sell truck.

I would think you would need at least a 5 ton truck, can't squeeze much into a one ton, especially on the weight side. I wouldn't recommend driving an overweight one ton down from Whitehorse, probably wouldn't be much left of it.
I'd call some trucking companies, I'll bet there are quite a few 53' trailers coming back from Whitehorse empty or half full. Drivers would be happy to off set there fuel costs and maybe get some beer money.
Look for companies that do hotshots to Yukon/ NWT.

Depends on how much stuff shes got. And really for one trip, with trailer, you could do it, hillbilly style.

Have you talked to Bandstra? I work up near Dease Lake a bunch and Bandstra is the cheapest way to ship pallets and odd-shaped things from Dease to Smithers or Vancouver. They're not really movers though so I don't know how they'd feel about couches and the like.

I'm heading up to Dawson City late May-early June. Ill be driving to PG day 1. Fort Nelson day 2 and then on to Dawson and out to camp day three.

Kinda a long trip to be cooped up in a vehicle with someone you've never met.... could be a lot of fun too.

This is what is being moved...About 40-50 boxes (still trying to pair this down a bit), (1) queen mattress, 2 bed frames, three chairs, 5-6 occasional tables various sizes, dining room table with 6 chairs, 2 dressers, 2 pine chests

Ill be heading up in a Diesel (of course) Ram 4x4 loaded to the hilt, and a more or less empty 27' travel trailer. Pulling over to camp along the way. cheap.

Won't be towing the trailer back on return trip and that will be in the fall sometime.
