Did you reconnect the ground that mounts to lower air intake plenum? Well hidden and easy to forget.

Did you make sure it was at tdc with the distributor going in and landing on the plug number 1 spot?

Yes also I have a clicking sound in my air box when trying to start. Maybe that is normal? I am willing to pay for help as well. I'm not looking for a hand out. I am moving in a few months and need to drive my truck. Bad!

There is one that mounts to the support bracket at the air intake plenum. It's the ground for the injectors. So if not connected it will turn over with starter but not crank or crank and die like 5-10 seconds later, can't remember which.

Did you hook up the air flow sensor connector?

Here's just a few questions to help you narrow it down, was it at TDC when you changed the timing chain? Did you reinstall distributor correctly? Is everything connected that should be connected?

clean that area really good where the timing cover meats the head and put some gasket maker in there with a tooth pick

so I removed the lifters. Lol. I did a valve adjustment and the ticking sound is a lot more quiet but I can still hear it. one part of my cam (?) Did not look like the others it was real shiny and I'm sure that is not good?

I'd do a compression check. Make sure you didn't screw anything up. If you moved your cam solo without your crank you could have hit a valve... Ask me how I know
