Since I want to have it done sometime this century, I am actually going to have Justin at Redline do the build for me.

Here's the plan as it stands now.

SOA
60 series rear full float axle and a 60 series front axle.
Discs brakes on all four
Chromoly shafts all around with 4.88 gears and ARB lockers front and rear.
5.3L vortec
Rebuilt 4L60e
Orion T/C
Saginaw power steering
and of course...air conditioning. I am not as tough as I was in 1979, I think I want air in it.

I am sure there will be a few other changes made while Justin has it and then I will bring it home, finish the interior and get some body work done on it and new paint.

Again, that's the plan now and it may change a bit but I am excited to get going on it.

Wow
BOUNDER has a new user name?

kidding......

Wow. That's a big very expensive list. Do you suppose if I hang out with you enough that I would benefit from the "trickle down effect"?
That'll be quite the undertaking. On the 76 I've seen it listed on ksl a few times. Is it just too damn big for what you want to be able to do with it? I got carried away with my pig but it's no where near that big. I'm currently putting together a different cruiser that's more of a drive to the trail wheel the trail drive it back home cruiser. I had one previously that was more all around useful like that. I miss it.

Ya, I know. This kind of thinking has gotten me in trouble in the past but I guess I never learn. I have always wanted to build a 40 series from the ground up and that is in progress, and I have always wanted a 55 like in the proposed build. I am not getting any younger and I figure I might as well do it while I can.

Yes, the Beast is a big animal and at this point, just not what I want to do. However, my sons have just about talked me into keeping it. I guess we might just put it on ice for a year or so to get the other projects done and then go to work on it and see what fun things we can do with it. It has incredible potential and is definitely one of a kind. We have a short list of things we want to do with it and it will be good practice for me and the boys.

Like I said, I am not getting any younger and it's about time I start doing instead of just wishing....

So when does it go to redline?

Justin is picking it up on Wednesday. This is going to be a great Christmas present. I am pretty excited.

Justin promises to do a complete build thread on it so that we can keep updated on the progress.

He's gonna have all that done by then? That'll be a quick build.

I doubt he will have it done by Christmas. But none the less, it is definitely all I am getting for Christmas.

Cry me a river sunshine. You poor thing. I might get a socket set. My heart bleeds for ya.

I know, I am not complaining. But I am probably a bit older than you are as well. This has been a long time dream of mine.

But we both like cruisers.

When the 76 was posted on ksl I remember the ad saying it was built with TTC in mind? Was it yours when it was being built? I bring this up because I was just cruising the new issue of fourwheeler and it had all the entries for ttc. Do you still want to enter it in ttc? I think it'd be pretty neat to see an iron pig in there? Also out of curiosity why those tires on it? It seems like they would be really really stiff?

Hey UglyOinker, sorry I didn't notice your post until this morning.

It was not mine when it was being built. The guy that built it is a local guy and he was indeed building it to enter into the TTC. I don't know if I have enough guts to follow through with it though. But I agree, it would be great to see an old pig in the TTC and I think it would have a pretty good chance of getting voted in. I would want to do a few things with it before I would consider it. like get new tires. Those tires are tougher than nails but yes, they are VERY stiff. But the more I learn about, and talk to more guys about the airbag suspensions I am becoming convinced that they would function very well. I guess I really ought to get out and test them myself.

The old Beast is just sitting out in a lonely corner of my garage right now. It is just taking up room and with my other projects I just don't have time for it. I believe that here in the next couple of weeks I will probably put it back up on eBay and see if I can sell it again and just be done with it. Then I don't have to sit around feeling guilty about not working on it.
