Maxim,

Why the anti-Onstar comment? I am curious why you think that it is a bad thing.

Have a great day,

Dan,

I just don't really like the idea of having some extra tracking thing on my car (granted I have a cell and Ez-pass (RFID tag to pay tolls for those outside the northeast).

Maybe I'm just a little paranoid

That was going to be my point. Onstar is just a glorified cell phone - it uses cell technology. You are not really anymore tracable with Onstar than you are when you carry your cell phone around. And, it does have some good advantages. Great cell reception, remote vehicle unlocking, etc. Too bad GM is holding the technology so close.

Have a great day,

I've managed to get 15 mpg under ideal conditions and this has only happed for a few tanks of gas in the last several years.

My real world average is closer to 12 mpg with the type of driving I do.

Wow, granted my 98 is not modified (but it does have near 140K on it now), but it only ever dips below 15 if I'm towing. Around town and mixed driving it is pretty much always right at 16. If I cruise on the highway at ~65-70, it can go to 17, almost 18. If I take it up to 80+, its back down to 16.

Richg, those mileage figures make me envious!

If I may ask: how do you measure your miles per gallon?
