*No pics available as it is on a Baja Toy that wrecked (*not b/c of the steering).

Guy took the low pressure line and ran it into an expansion/catch can with a filter and cooler. Added a decent amount of capacity to the system while simultaneously filtering and cooling the ATF. Brilliantly done but a little expensive for some to consider.

FWIW, I was gonna ask "Why not 3.5" pipe" but you already have noted that. :D

Funnily enough, I run a ram with the same dimensions. And I did the exhaust thing, and all worked well, ugly, but well enough. When I went to a 3.4L I decided to see what would happen if I just kept everything stock. No problems at all. No starving, No squaking. I even tried a stock, un drilled, output. Actually it works just fine as well, and I think my pumps are lasting longer. When I threw the pump on and wheeled it, I think maybe once or twice, in a week long wheeling trip, I felt the ram act a little slow for a split second while turning the wheel back and forth rapidly. It was a tiny and insignificant amount.

I am not recommending a stock res, or an undrilled pump. Im just saying.....

BTW I do run one of them thar fancy fin tube cooler thingys

pickup up the exhaust pipe today.
man I hope it was the 3.5 inch.
it looked huge in the store.

so how did you figure out how high to make it.
did you mount it in the stock location?

do you remember how long the pipe you used was.
or how much gap between the stock lid and where you cut it?

can you braze exhaust pipe?

isnt the 3.5" the length? not the OD/ID? Been about 4 years since i did it though...

the 3.5 inch pipe fit right in.
will have to see if I melted out the filter screen when I brazed it up.
got to cold out there to mess with it any more to night.

2 inches longer doubled the size of it.
should clear the hood with about 1/4 inch to spare.

I sure hope this clears up my hydro steering airing up problem!

if I messed up the filter screen I will try again and seal it up with gasket former.
I hope that it works with auto trans fluid.

any body know if gasket former will work with the auto trans fluid?
