I'm about to baseline my 1998 LX470's fluids.....front diff has 10mm allen key fill/drain plugs. T-case has the ~24mm hex bolt style as does the rear diff.

Is there one specific plug that will do for all these areas??...meaning can I replace them ALL with low profile allen key magnetic drain plug. Been searching for hours if this would work.

Please help me with some part #'s and what's compatible.

Thanks,

Todd H.

I swapped all of mine with the hex head ones and recommend it to everyone. Those allen head ones are a PIA.

Haha, I actually wanted to swap the hex ones with the allen heads!

Don't do it. They seize and you cannot get them out without rounding out the allen head.

Hmmm. The hex head bolts are on there now feel like they are going to get rounded out when I try to remove them. Seems like a lose-lose situation.

If you feel like you’re going to round off a hex head you are using the wrong size socket.
You can spray a pen/lube behind the head, let it soak and tap on the head with a hammer, this is break free any corrosion.
Using a wrench instead of a socket gets you better straight on tourqe. Use a cheater bar for more leverage on the wrench.
Last but not least you can use heat to expand the bolt, let it cool and the expansion/contraction will loosen the corrosion.
