Maybe...... maybe I've found it

Tom,

If, the pic from the post above is equal to this pic of the B, 2B, 3B '80 and later FSM36047
alternator 3B IC regulated connector.webp

And I combine the terminal layout from the FSM pic with the wire colors in this pic,
IMG_0082.webp

Than the connector should look like this
red white blue connector.webp

Check it out and tell me if I'm right or wrong.

Now it's time for a  or   maybe

Rudi

Ps, I'm still not 100% sure. Too many IF's to my taste, but it's the best I can make of it.

Well that pin layout agrees with the pic in Fig. 9.5 of the same FSM (shown in your post #12). Here, let me blow up that part of the pic here:

It also agrees with what I did in post #37:

So it is as good an "educated guess" as any I suppose... :meh:

Here are background quotes from Bidgecleach for easy reference:
(I've highlighted the part of the first quote which is cause for worry.)

I need help wiring my regulator it is internal i have a red a white and a blue wire the red wire runs through the case the blue wire gets screwed down with the regulator and is ground i think? help would be much appreciated where does the white wire connect and which wire is ignition and gauge power?

I wonder if its not the original alternator
the wires coming from mine are white, red and blue

the regulator part no. is 27700-57060-84

the alt came bolted to an 82 3b 12v it has the vacuum pump on the back.

I swapped the engine into an 86 extra cab toyota pickup so i am trying to find out the wire colours so i can wire it into the pickup harness.

i need to know what the three wires that come from the alternator(ignition,Dummy light,Voltmeter)are so that i can wire it into an 86 pickups alt harness. I bought a new regulator and don't want to fry it by doing trial and error.

i know what the wires are for i just need to know the corresponding colours.

i'm going to try to figure it out with a meter i will let you know if i'm successful thanks for all the help.

^ Unfortunately this might still be the best way to go. (Testing with a meter or trying to find where the wires originate from inside and posting up pics.)

Thanks for the confirmation Tom. We're both on the same track and as I said before and agree with you that testing the wires to see where they originate is the safest way to go.
On the other hand there is nothing to fry.
L=Lamp. That wire is an output and either is high (charging / lamp off) or low (not charging / lamp on).
S(Sense) and IGN(Ignition) are basically the same. The only difference is that IGN activates the regulator/alternator by turning the key, so if you mix them up the worse case scenario is that the reg/alt is "on" when the key is off.

It's up to Bidge now to figure it out.

Bon suerte y saludos de Costa Rica
Good luck and greetings from Costa Rica
