i started a post a while back asking for input about an overheating problem:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=123203

my father-in-law & i dug into the engine this past weekend and tore out the head for a checkup. even though the exterior seemed okay, the machinist reported back that there was an interior crack too big to be pinned. with this info, does anyone have a rebuilt or used cylinder head for a 1983 fj60? i live in glenwood springs, co 81601.
thx

I have two 2F engines, one is missing the valve cover, the other runs pretty good. If you can give me a week or two I can pull one of them for you. They could probably both use a rebuild but if you are inclined it's not that big a deal (if you have the tools also). Let me know,

Make sure you get the correct head. When I went searching for a match to my 1986 head, I discovered that there were a number of different castings. I ended up getting a good used one from cruiserparts.net The first one they sent me did have a very fine crack in it, but they had a good one at my door within a week.
Apparently, it is very important to have matchiing casting numbers as there were slight variations...

Good luck with the rebuild. 2F heads sure do weigh a lot!
