I'm very interesred in getting myself a 4 door 70 series LC. An importer told me I need to look for a '86 or older, to get it into the US. What was available pre '87 in a 4 door? Also looking for a thread or website that shows the progresion of engines and body styles of the 70 series LC. Thanks

I would double check what your importer is telling you. My experience says the vehicle must be 25 years old.
You can read up on it here.

A Canadian spec BJ70 can legally be imported into the US and titled for road use. If you are counting the left & right rear ambulance doors as doors #3 & #4, then you should be in luck with such a truck. If you are looking to import a JDM spec truck from Canada, then I think the odds of success are very very low for you.

I would recommend talking to an importer that has successfully imported a Canadian spec truck into the US and then setting your plans & expectations.

Good luck.
