Personally I'd rather see you get this, and a MUCH better carb...

I think the 22R Carbs are far superior, but I can't find the info right now to support it.

And BTW, nice minky.

Thanks for the link...This is the 2nd 20r carb that I have issues with. So I dont mind going to a 22R as long as it is in great shape...dont want to have to do anything other than bolt it on and minor adjustment!!!

thanks on the monkey...it is a "peresosa"

Gee, :hhmm: I don't know where to start.

You sound alittle new to mini's so I'll just cover the basics :flipoff2:

1: If you have engine trouble and its in the block don't be scared. You can do whats know as a "20/22R Hybrid motor". Since the deck height on the 20R and 22R up to 84 is the same it can work with your existing head.

2: Toyota parts are like gold. Everybody, everywhere wants something. Other than being a better carb, the reason I posted that adapter is b/c I believe it will be an easier carb to find. If you plan of visiting salvage yard don't be disappointed with your 1st trip. Toyota's are often the 1st vehicles completely stripped. You WILL have to go multiple times more than likely,...unless your lucky and find it 1st time.

3: Get a list of Toyota CARS that had the 20R in them. As the trucks are the premo item, most often pickers forget about the cars;)

Thats how I got all this, @ $100 from a Toyota Corona I think.

4: ??? ADD break!

Also important.

I'm pretty sure if you go with a Weber your chances of passing emissions testing will go dramatically down. It can be done, it can be done to pass emissions, but most mechanics stop at needing a "carb tool" and think they can do it w/o it.

Darn good carb. Parts and support will be around a long time w/ it. But just know that.

(Mental thought: Is 79 exempt yet? :hhmm:...DANG I"M GETTING OLD QUICK!)

Engine has been good to me.....I installed a used carb from a junkyard last and a few month later i am having issues with the float and it overfills..a mess gas everywhere.

I guess I see what I can find first...

My local NAPA dealer has sold me reman 22r carbs for around $300 bucks, but I only do that when I am spending someone elses money. Kits are cheap, and since you are smart enough to drive an older toyota you are smart enough to call Toyota publications @ 1-800-622-2033 & get the FSM for your truck. The money that you save will totally pay for the books. Also check to see if there is any debris in the seat of the float valve, you may not need a full kit to stop overfilling. On my '83 I kept getting junk in that seat, and I would clean it out put on a new fuel filter & run for a while & repeat. It took me several filters to realise that clean fuel wasn't my problem, it was 25+ year old fuel lines deteriorating & clogging my float needle & seat. One last carb disassembly, some new fuel lines & no more clogs for me. That may not be your problem, but it wouldn't hurt to check because if it is, your new carb will begin to flood in about the same time frame as the one that you have now. That old fuel tank probably has a lifetime worth of funny business in it as well.
