MY 90 amp internal fan alternator died and I have been trying to find one that works.
I have been to all the auto parts stores, even the Toyota dealership, and all of them are giving me the same alternator that does not fit my 1991 LC.
They all have the same issue, mounting tabs that are too close together and will not fit.
Any help please!

The US spec 1991 FJ80 came with a Denso 80 amp alternator with an external fan (27060-61091).
I have never heard of or seen a 91 with the 90 amp unit from the factory.

The 90 amp Denso internal fan alternator was mid 1992 (27060-61100).

Toyota went back to an 80 amp Denso unit for the FZJ80 starting in 1993 (27060-66070).

Are you the original owner? If not, it's possible that a previous owner changed the mounting brackets.
I would also do some research on your VIN. Make sure you're actually dealing with a 1991 FJ80.

Yes it is a 91. Build date 4/90. Let me get some pics up if the alternator that was on it, and of the mounting bracket.

The Toyota part number everyone is giving me is 27060-61100, and the 2 mounting tabs are too close

Reading around the forums, I read something about an 80 amp ND alt, internal fan.
Maybe this is what I have?

No markings, and it is the voltage regulator.
I am figuring out how to modify bracket and alt, and tensioner to mount a 90 amp.
Pics will follow
I am pretty sure I have it figured out, just need to do a little more grinding.

This was my 91. Got replacement alt from either auto zone or orielly. It was tight fit against heat shield. I think I had to tap in the alt bushings to make it fit. They will tap in to reduce dimension

Yeah, mine was an internal fan. 4/90 build date, 127K miles, pretty sure it is the original
Nope. Not original. As previously stated, 1991 had an 80 amp external fan Denso unit in the USDM. OEM part number 27060-61091.
The FJ62 version of the 3FE had 27060-61090 which was superseded by the 61091 for the FJ80.
Both the FJ62 and early FJ80 had an 80 amp Denso with an external fan.

You will also notice in one of the pictures that @FJ80HI posted, the rear bearing cap of the unit has the "ND" stamp indicating "Nippon Denso". At the time, Denso was, and I believe still is, the only OEM for alternators and starters amongst other items.

FWIW, my FJ80 had a build date of 4/91 and I drove it off the dealers lot in July of 1991 with 12 miles on it.
