Anyone work/worked in HR that can answer some questions for me? Came into work today to hear from coworker that the company that handles work comp stuff for my employer was looking to talk to me about another employee i thought quit. From what im hearing that person is trying to claim disability and blame me for it / saying i made threats or something silly. Without going into further detail on a public forum i honestly dont know what to do. I know its their job to investigate any claims but im not too sure of my rights in this situation. Atm i don't really have anyone to bounce questions off of so im hoping someone can help me out or point me in the right direction.

PM me some of your questions and I'll pass them by my wife. Hopefully we can help you out.

You need to talk to your company's HR representative before speaking to anyone. I also would not discuss anything with co-workers until you have spoken with HR.

Good Luck

My understanding is that HR represents and protects the company interest, which might or might not be the same as yours. The same is true that any attorneys retained by your employer is here to protect the company's interests only, and not yours. You need to aware of this if you would like to talk to or rely on your conversations with your HR and any attorneys not retained by you.

Any nut case or sane person co worker can claim wrong doing on a co worker (hostile environment, sexual advances, etc.) That is why HR has to do their part and do an ivenstigation. If you've done nothing wrong, I wouldn't worry too much. It is just a process that has to be done.

If you had a close (r) relationship with this co worker, and you had a friendship at work and outside of work, then thread this situation cautiously. Because those jokes you shared with him/her can come back to haunt you. you get my drift.

Feel the water by agreeing to the investigation. What Temecula Tim said.
