I just bought a 2004 LX470 with 161K miles that came complete with a few whiskey dings and scratches. I've managed to clean it up more than I expected and now really want to get it closer to former glory. I immediately had the timing belt done with new water pump, alternator and battery. I also had to have my hard break lines replaced as one split on the way to the shop. The ACH has already been deleted in the rear but L and N seem to work in the front. Most everything in the interior seems to work but I really need to replace all the speakers while keeping OG look. Any suggestions?

Uhm, I’m not an AHC guru but I don’t know if that’s possible.

Speaker replacement is going to vary, are you keeping everything else stock? Just grab some decent 2ohm speakers to replace the blown/old ones.

Otherwise you might be looking at the nav delete to install a regular head unit.

You can refoam the speakers. Cheap and way less work than fitting aftermarket speakers, which won't fit anyway.

Why people remove the AHC is beyond me. That's what makes the LX an LX. I'd search for parts and put it back together, personally.

Fresh rig bro! Refoam excercise corrects damaged/old speakers but the factory ones new aren’t anything to write home about. I think the bottom door drivers are 6.5’s. Grab four of these and call it a day. They’re 8 ohm and don’t require a ton of power (which the mark Levinson doesn’t really have per channel)

I have 4 OEM speakers in excellent condition including housing pods.

Keep the speakers simple. Anything short of replacing the amp and inevitably getting into the head unit / nav delete is going to be mediocre at best.

The AHC thing is weird. Never heard of a partial delete like that. If the lines are all present and the pump and sensors are working, might be an easy correction back to fully functional AHC.

I just found 8 ohm speakers that fit and put them in the old housings. Skar audio 6.5” Mids in the front, Dayton audio 4” in the rear doors and a 6.5” sub in the back. Nothing fancy and it works with the ML amp

Sound better than the factory speakers? I'm probably more interested in going this route versus pulling wire I think. Feels like majority of my listening has become podcasts now anyway.

Matching impedance is a must
Make sure rms range is what ml amp puts out for that channel
higher sensitivity db rating is best

Any idea what the Mark Levinson amp specs are? Quick Google didn't turn anything up unfortunately. Know all the drivers are 8 ohm.

I wouldn’t grab anything higher 50 watts, I’d personally shoot for something closer to 30

Parts express has great use of filters to help you out

Bumping this thread as I am battling with the same decision: re-foam current OEM or find aftermarket 8ohm front & rear door speakers as well as 8ohm subwoofer. I have found speaker options on other threads that would allow me to keep the current amp in there but wondering if anyone has strong opinions one way or the other.

Also does anyone know what type of tires those are in OPs picture?
