A radiator shop can fix it if it is like an FJ60 and I think it is. Plastic only came in with the 80s.

Not an big problem getting it out.

The big "Mud" modification is to slice the fan shroud at the bottom and zip tie it back together so that you can remove it without removing the radiator if you ever have belt problems.

Look it up. Shroud Mod in the 60 series section.

It is with the addition of an internal tranny cooler.

While you're working on it, head to U-Haul and get an external cooler. You can also order one out of one of those hot rod magazines.

Looks like May/June 2009. He didn't say much about it.

In one of the last issues of Trails, a question was asked, if I have any tricks to help get fan belts on an FJ60 or FJ62. In my response, I did not have any real tricks, just time-honored methods. Todd had suggested cutting the fan shroud. Well, I worked on a truck just recently that had the fan shroud cut in half (horizontally). This was a first for me. While I did not need to work on the belts, this looked OK. I still would not take the time to take this off, as I would need to mess with the A/C condenser that can sometimes be a pain, but it was clean and supported the shroud well. I could see where it could save some time once it was done. So here is a different approach to doing the fan belts. To do this, I believe that you would need to remove the fan (4 nuts on the studs on the fan clutch). Then you would remove the shroud and cut it in half. Install the lower half and the fan back on the fan clutch, then install the upper shroud. Good luck with this.

Called Gold, new one is just shy of 600.00

Cruiserparts.net has one online for 390.00. Think I might try and fix it. One of the PO told me it had a cold radiator leak when it was below freezing. Can a radiator shop find that when its 90 degrees through a pressure test?

Gonna try and pull it tomorrow. How hard is that?

If you want a new one let me call gold or buy from Radiators, automotive radiators, condenser, oem radiators, truck radiators

Jess is correct if no external tranny cooler than get one all the cool kids have them.

Mech. question

I also have a loud belt type noise that has not been diagnosed. Once I tear radiator out I cant turn car on to help diagnose it. Also radiator is leaking at the seam that runs along the top. Anyway to fix it without taking it out?

I believe rob glued (epoxied) his till his new radiator came in for his 80. ask him what he used and where he got his radiator. i remember him saying his was nearly half price.

If you have to take it out you might as well replace belts, water pump, thermostat while you are in the area.

Seriously, nobody has commented on that one yet?

It's a simple modification. Greg did it. :D

Nice. You mean wrote the Q&A, right?

Any fix in the truck will be temporary. Take the radiator to a trusted shop and let them hook you up. Since you are going to have to pull the transmission cooler lines go ahead and flush the transmission.

Start here.

From there go here. and here per Jes's good sugestion and here if you decide to flush it. (giggle)

QFT. I came for the sticker advice.

:D

Mike how did you hijack Todd's perfectly good sticker thread with effing TECH? You even have Nolen posting tech. Shouldn't this be in your 80 series thread?

Isnt the 80 series thread dead? I thought everybody was tired of that one, death by 62!

Thanks for all the links, Greg. I was reading your tranny cooler tech into the wee hours last night. I barely understood the pics. I went to Delta State, not Mississippi State. This 62 is going to be my real intro into wrenchin.

I wish I was not talking tech right now. I like sticker talk, which reminds me the 62 still shows no CL sticker. How do you get the retro sticker that Rob has on his 80. Those are cool.

The good news is you guys are coming up here for my wrenchin party this weekend, right. Corky's is real close and The Commissary is not too far away either.

Happy Labor Day

Mmmm.... Germantown Commissary....

The tamales are good too.

Are you serious?! No Crack Salad?!

DAVID: Have you seen Duke Fame’s current album?
IAN: Um... yes, yes.
DAVID: Have you seen the cover?
IAN: Um... no, no, I don’t think I have.
DAVID: It’s a rather lurid cover, I mean...ah, it’s, it’s like naked women, and, uh....
NIGEL: He’s tied down to this table,
IAN: Uh-huh.
NIGEL: And he’s got these whips and they’re all...semi-nude.
DAVID: Knockin’ on ‘im and it’s like much worse...
IAN: What’s the point?
DAVID: Well the point is it’s much worse than ‘Smell the Glove’ ...he releases that he’s number three.
IAN: Because he’s the victim. Their objections were that she was the victim. You see?
DEREK: I see....
NIGEL: Oh...
DAVID: Ah....
IAN: That’s alright, if the singer’s the victim, it’s different. It’s not sexist.
NIGEL: He did a twist on it. A twist and it’s..
DEREK: He did, he did. He turned it around.
IAN: We shoulda thought of that....
DAVID: We were so close....
IAN: I mean if we had all you guys tied up, that probably woulda been fine.
ALL: Ah....
IAN: But it’s...it’s still a stupid cover.
DAVID: It’s such a fine line between stupid an’...
DEREK: ...and clever.
DAVID: Yeah, and clever.

such a fine line.
