My new tires. 37's on an FJC?

The rubbing is on the inside of the rear wheel wells, when the tire tucks up there on full flex, I've got the same issue with 34" MT/R's on the stock rims, they don't push the tire out enough.

Looks great. One thing though, where is the matching spare tire? Will it fit the stock mount? Takes gut's to be the first. "Rangers Lead The Way" Michael:cheers:
I only got 4 in the deal. I'll just have to find another for a spare. I doubt that it will fit on the stock holder. My 33" doesn't leave much room, so the 37" would be worse. I'm waiting for the rear bumper that has the tire carrier built in, and hoping it will fit on that. I sure won't be carrying it on the roof...it took 3 guys to get one up there (couldn't fit all 4 inside the truck with all my junk). Then I had a hell of a time getting it down by myself. Then I had to get the dent out of the roof. Trusty toilet plunger came in handy. :D

As for the rubbing on the inside of the rear wheel well...that is typical on a truck with big tires. My 5Runner does the same thing on extreme flex. I'm gonna need wheel spacers to clear the A-arms, anyways....that will help, if I don't just replace the rims.

My 35's are rubbing on the body mount at the bottom directly in front of the bushing, my next plan is to curve cut the mount so its cut taller at the particular rub spot (picture a hill shaped cutout). The plate I welded in is 3/16 which is thicker than the stock material so it will still be plenty strong. The OME setup is usually about 2.25"-2.5" when settled (mine was) so it will sit lower, but is about 5-10% stiffer than the Walker Evans setup I am now using, so it may help resist compression, but my bet is you'll never completely eliminate rub using the stock diameter body bushings up front, which is also why I'm trying to locate smaller diameter ones to cut the frame mount further.
My main concern would be the axles with 37's. People are breaking rear ends with 33's and 35's, 37's is just guarantying (sp?) it will happen, and is going to seriously tax the front gear & CV strength.

I agree with pretty much everything you have pointed out. I didn't think of a smaller diameter bushing for the body mount, though. I like that idea.
I don't really expect to completely eliminate the rubbing, but I'm pretty sure I can keep it to a livable amount. With the OME springs (heavy) I ended up with about 4" of lift, and lost almost 50 points on the RTI ramp. I know this will settle, especially once my sliders and bumper finally arrive from Allpro.;)
As for the strength...I really can't imagine that the drivetrain is any weaker than what's in my 89 4Runner. It weighs almost exactly the same as the Cruiser, is powered by a V-8, and has 38.5" Swampers. Granted, it doesn't have IFS anymore, but I haven't busted a birf yet. *knock on wood. I do have Smurfields waiting for me to install, and I have broken a rear axle shaft, but that was extreme situation.
This is supposed to be my daily driver, so in all reality, it will most likely end up with 35"s. I just wanted to try out the 37's for a bit.:D
Do you have any rub on the inner wheel well (the actual body) in the front?
Thanx for the tips.

I never thought that .. but always someone push a little bit more far the limit .. now the next step 39" :D

Hard to think you have the same tires than me in my 60 but more clearance !

.. now the next step 39" :D
The 39" Krawlers aren't available yet, AFAIK. The Ultimate FJ had the prototypes. They will have to wait for the solid axle swap.;)

Ohh my bad .. I thought are available after Ultimate Adventure ..

Acording to the BFG site, only 35's, and 2 different 37" Krawlers are available. Soon, I'm sure.;)

Are you currently running the 37's or you still running the 33" MTR's and if so what do you run for tire pressure in the city? I've got the MTR's on my FJ aswell and was wondering if i was maybe running the tire pressure to low? Currently at about 35 psi. My apologies for changing the subject in the middle of your thread. By the way the 37's look kick ass!

I haven't become a fan of these yet, but I've gotta admit that looks nasty. Is the drivetrain going to hold up to those big tires? It's IFS after all.

I'm still running the 33" MTR's. I haven't finished trimming yet....stupid Christmas....
Anyway, I run them at 40 psi on the street. It's a bit high, but I think the max for that tire is 65 psi. I have 16,000 km on them, and are wearing very nicely. I air down to about 6 psi on the trails.

As for the strength of the drivetrain...as I said before, this same drivetrain is offered behind the V-8 in the new 4Runner. I'm sure I could break it on command, but I'm pretty good with keeping it sane. I also have a 5L V-8 in my 89 4Runner with 38.5" tires, and no problems yet. Although it DOES have a solid axle....
