HI Mudders,

I am glad to report my LX570 is back in business. As some of you may have been aware, I had intermittent issues with not being able to engage in reverse.

Well, it turns out that my mechanic was incompetent and he was shorting the trans oil level ~ 1.5 qts too low by not filling it fully cooled down. We filled it to the appropriate level and still experienced intermittent reverse issues. The shop then filled it with trans-x and everything appears to be working OK. Not sure if we permanently damaged our tranny by having it a low level for several months, any thoughts?

Other issues:

1. AHC passenger assist automatically lowers by 2 inches when we shut off engine and lock the door but sometimes it does not lower. Is this an issue?
2. Our center console will not allow us to feed DVD and we are getting a "DVD error". We tried the "insert credit card through door while holding down eject/load button" method with no luck. Any other ideas to get it working again?
3. If the new TESLA style center console replacement does not control the rear DVD entertainment system as it was observed by some owners, can DVD system still be controlled with the rear entertainment remote control?

Thanks!

There's a number of prerequisites that must be met before Easy Assist will lower. Sometimes it just doesn't want to go.

Thanks for the link.

It just appears to be random. I have no additional weight on the vehicle. And it happens whether or not I press the brake pedal. E-brake is always on.

Strange.

There's got to be more than this for it to this finicky. But I'm OK as long as my AHC is not malfunctioning.

Yes, one is a time limit. If the engine idles in Park for more than (15 or 30 secs?) it doesn't lower.

That's strange. I wonder why they designed it that way?

Has anyone checked techstream to see if this behavior can be altered?

Thanks!

I tried to train my kids to not open the door for 5 seconds, so the suspension could kneel. They never got it, and I got tired of closing the last door and having the car drop 2". So I turned it off. Now with the step sliders, even on 35s I don't need it. I"ll put it down every once in a while if I working on the roof rack, or if I want to show off for a coworker (not so much that anymore now that we're all work at home). I find it most useful to get into parking garages marked 6'8".

Hey Grinchy,

Thanks for posting.

So I observed 3 different AHC suspension responses:

1. Immediate Full kneel
2. ~ 75% kneel after ignition off and then after driver side door closed and locked, it further kneels 25% or about 3"
3. No kneeling

Here is what the owner's manual says:

"If the “ENGINE START STOP” switch is turned to OFF within 30 seconds after the vehicle stops while this mode is on, the vehicle height is lowered automatically."

It also states:

Easy access mode is available if the following conditions have been met:
● The vehicle height mode is in normal mode
● The vehicle is stopped on a flat surface.
● The shift lever is in “P”.
● The side door and the back door are not opened from the vehicle stopped to the “ENGINE START STOP” switch is turned to off.

So the variability seems to be maybe uneven parking surface since I meet the other AHC kneeling conditions.

SO, anyone like to comment or have ideas on my DVD player problem? :)

Thanks!

When did the DVD player eject or load last work? Have you pulled negative battery cable for 10 min? Dothe cd/dvd in the magazine play correctly now?

Hi Grinchy,

Unsure of when it went down but since this vehicle was down for tranny issues it has been out of our vehicle rotation but I guesstimate it's been at least over a year since we used the DVD player? It was working at the time. As we dusted off the mothballs and vehicle is running we noticed we couldn't insert a DVD.

I will try the battery method and report back. Thanks!

Do you have the Mark Levinson system? Lexus allows some AV Status in the hidden menu, which you access via the touchscreen. like this:

Be careful in there, but it might have a communication fault and this could help reset that.

Finally, do you hear the motor when you press and hold load/eject button?

No, I don't hear any motor sounds when holding down the button so maybe it isn't an ejection motor/gear issue and hopefully that reset idea might work.

I'll give that a shot if the battery terminal idea doesn't work. Thanks!
