Steel is cut and marked. Gets bent and tacked tomorrow. Gotta love cardboard mock-ups... :D

Planning ahead, I ended up getting two sets of steel cut from the CAD file. Plan on building both and selling the extra.

Trying to decide if I want to go with the Combo Bar center section or the TJM-Style Hoop. Leaning towards the hoop just to be different.

A few progress pics...

Next up: trim front wings and fold/weld side wings.

Finished the welds on what is assembled so far. Going to have to re-cut the pieces for the side wings to get them just right. Took it to do a little "community service" and clean up the neighborhood playground. A shot from a distance with decent lighting.

Looks awesome. I really like the angles on the wings.

Looks good! I'm following your progress with interest.

Swapped in some LEDs via pfran42. The PO had some already installed, but out of 7, only one still worked!

Here's what I found....

Here's what I installed. Much better with some LIGHT!!! I also painted the inside of the door marker lights with some metallic silver to improve the light output.

Looks good! Glad you like them! I have never heard of a George's LED failing. From what I have read, George's LEDs have a lot of tech built in to them but they also come at a price that reflects that. My panels offer what I believe to be a great balance of performance vs. price and aside from a bad batch that I received a while back (of which I have replaced every known panel that I have been made aware of), they have proven very reliable.

On a different note, that bumper looks great! I can wait to see the finished product.

I have no clue where those old LEDs came from originally. I don't know what George's looked like. I do know that the front dome worked. The middle dome did not because it had one of the pointed "tabs" broken off. The rear appeared to be fine, but didn't work at all. None of the (4) door courtesy lights worked at all. When I saw I already had LEDs and some weren't working, I tried swapping polarity on them thinking that maybe they were just installed wrong. Of course, no luck. So, I have the one front dome LED light that works. Others were toast.

On the bumper - I got the side wings tacked on and about half-way welded out yesterday too. I pulled the bumper, and I need to finish out the welds. Haven't decided if I am going to keep this one or sell it and start another one. Either way, I'll have to get the fogs for the bumper holes and get them mounted, and probably have it powder coated before I sell it anyway.

Front is George's. It's nice, hope you didn't throw it away?

The middle dome (with the broken tab) doesn't look like the one I got from George, but does look a lot like the front so I would suspect it's his. I've attached a photo of the one I got, so you can compare. Likely the middle and rear domes can be fixed

Doors are cheap POS ones, those should be tossed.

If you have no interest in George's LED's, I'd be more than happy to take them off your hands. ;)

As mentioned in the other thread, George's do not appear as bright as Pfran's, but actually do put out more usable light. So if they can be salvaged, would be nice as George isn't making them anymore. :frown:

I didn't trash any of them... yet... Good to know where the domes came from, anyway. I may see if I can fix the middle and rear domes and offer them as a set. Maybe they're not shot but just weren't seated properly or had some corrosion.

I'd give it a shot, certainly soldering on a new tab shouldn't be any big deal.

What do you think of the silver paint in the door marker lights? Think it helped enough to be worth it?

The silver paint helped fill the reflector with light. Before the paint, it was a single "hot spot" of light. Now they look MUCH better.

Update on the bumper. Gonna have to hold off on getting the rest of it done due to the hectic holidays. Here's where I'm at right now, with a coat of primer and rattle can paint.

Wow that looks awesome!

Thanks! I just realized I STILL haven't taken that fugly bug guard off yet!!!

Much better w/o the bug guard!!! LOL!

Bumper looks great. Was it designed around a particular winch? I kind like the brush guards

Are you going to produce them for the masses??
