Here's some cool shots I got last night. I didn't have a tripod, so they are a bit blurry. The Northern have been crazy last couple of nights.
Tech: DOes a 1982 FJ-60 2F have the same head as my 1985 FJ-60? I have a 1982 parts rig that has a rebuilt head and I think my head is warped on the manifold side. I'm debating swapping the two if they will work.

Cool northern lights. Much better up north than we got down here. Also harder to see with all the city lights but I was watching them from my hot tub the other night. Neat stuff.

Yes the two heads are the same and you can switch them out no problem. You should look just to make sure that you 85 is not a 3F head (stamped on it? not sure how to ID it) but the 3fis a non USA thing. If your truck is a USA model then no problems.

It was a sad weekend. I ended up trading the 60 straight across for a Tacoma. we really need a truck for our new business venture, so my favorite project had to go. It was a great project and you all have been a great support and wealth of info throughout my time here. The ol' 60 will probably be my last, as there is no way I could ever come close to how fun this one was. Special props to Legion for selling us the 60 and helping out on the build. I'd buy another rig from you in a heartbeat (especially a 45 ;) )
anyways, thanks again for all the help and insight. You all rock! I still own a couple of 40s so, I'll see the few of you that cross-post ;) over there.

Sad day, indeed!

Yeah, especially when you add up the hours of blood, sweat, and tears that went into the ol' girl. If I had kept it, I would have swapped in a 5.3 or a Cummins as I never was happy with the lack of power. It drove the 350 miles to Anchorage without skipping a beat though just as it drove the 350 miles from Anchorage to Fairbanks when I bought it. Good times...

See you around man! We will miss having you here.

What year and style of Tacoma did you get. I have been eye-balling extended cabs and the 4 doors in 2006 models. That will probably be my next truck if I can ever part with the lifted 92 pickup or my FJ60. Not sure if I want a stick or auto however......leaning toward stick I think.

Guess you are going to have to get another ARB bumper, lights, and maybe more aggressive tires for the new truck. Let the new project begin.

Thanks man, I'll still be checking in. I can't kick the habit of checking out 60 stuff. I still have a parts rig, so technically I still have a 60. ;)

I got a 2004 ext. cab 5sp, 2.7l, with a Cache Camper, 3" eibach (sp) lift, PIAA lights, bumper thumper, and other misc. goodies. We both liked eachother's rigs and the trade went pretty smooth. I got 15mpgs going down to Anchorage and 25 mpg's coming back.:bounce: As much as I always say I won't mod "this" rig, I'm sure this one will end up with an ARB and a snorkel in the near future.
