I started working with carpenters tools when I was 5 years old, WAY before I had enough dexterity to keep from hurting myself daily! But by the time I was 10, I was proficient, and when we moved out of our first house and my parents couldn’t find one of the cabinet doors, I made one...at 14.
Fast forward. At 18 I started throwing some serious money at tools. I had already built the wooden parts of a restaurant patio and a greenhouse at 17. I bought a router at the local Tru Value hardware stores (It’s still there 41 years later!) and decided it was a high-enough quality tool to have its own toolbox. Lacking the extra cash for ‘real’ hardware, this is the homemade toolbox I came up with for it one afternoon.
Its still serving the same quality router 41 years and countless jobs later.
