My brakes work, but my battery doesn't charge :( (1 Viewer)

Just from what the shop told me, Toyota used a B circuit. I threw it all to the side of the garage and put in a 3 wire chevy alternator. No issues since.

Thanks man

That might be the end result at a certain point.
I remember you posting a while back that i eventually reach this point hehe.

Seems these old generators eat voltage regulates, as they switch on and off from idle to 1300 rpm constantly. Might be better to hook up and alternator and have it put out proper volts at idle :)

Gonna give it another shot, if it eats another VR i will likely switch it over and stow the old stuff in my basement :)

Thanks!

hot rodders have been retrofitting generator housings with alternator insides for a long time. couldn't this be done with a denso regulator?

you could always dummy up a regulator still or even go with an external and keep the wiring looking appropriate?

Im sure anything can be done. but the off the shelf generator retrofits are around $850. A little too steep even for me.

The regulator could definitely be used as a junction block to keep the "look".

BTW< I still have one more box to send you Sean.

hehe yeah too steep for me.

I would rather just pop a generator on and keep the old parts to swap back if desired.
If I end up going that route.

Looks like I had a A-circuit voltage regulator on it :)
