Hi all,

My '92 Toyota reg cab 4x2 5 speed 22RE started revving very high during my trip this weekend. Sometimes hitting the pedal settled the throttle somewhat, but at the next stop, idle would be high again.

I've notice my accelerator pedal is sticking more and more, not just in the mornings (at first start-up) as it has for years, so I don't think it's a coincidence. I tried the idle-adjustment screw while on the road, but no measurable difference.

Short of hooking it up to a diagnostic computer (how much do these cost?), what is the most likely suspect? Doesn't one of the parts stores do this for free?

Thanks, guys.

aside from checking the codes, adjust the throttle set bolt and clean your throttle butterfly and lubricate the moving parts on the outside. use a spray lubricant, not a penatrant. WD-40 is a penetrant.

on the actual throttle linkage, there is a 8mm nut that has a 3mm hex drive screw in it. that screw is the stop. try adjustng that to obtain low idle.

that is if you dont have a vacuum leak, like Jerod said.
